just a quick one

if youve got an SLI or Crossfire motherboard, does this mean that you can only use nvidia or ati cards respectively

for example, my motherboard is SLI, A8N-32 deluxe to be precise

ive got a 6800 GS in there, if i wanted to upgrade to a better single card, would I have to use Nvidia or would i be able to use ATI, would nvidia work better on an SLI motherboard that AtI would?

also, if i wanted to use dual graphics cards, would they have to be two nvidia cards on an SLI motherboard

cheers, sorry if this question is obvious to some

If you have SLi you can ONLY have nVidia cards, same with Crossfire.

Let me rephrase that.

If you want SLi you can only use two nVidia cards, you cant get two ATi cards and run them Crossfire, you'd need a X-Fire capable motherboard.

As for whether an ATi card will run better on an nForce motherboard (and yes it will run, to answer your question), I doubt it. But ATi are shit anyway to be honest.

For single use, either Nvidia or ATI will run, but you're looking at expensive 7800/7900 cards for a performance kick.

For SLI, you'll need another 6800 GS - you can't mix GPUs. Expect up to 40% performance increase with 2 x 6800s.
