Why is it that as soon as we have a few days of nice weather our local council feels it needs to start putting friggin chippings down on all the major roads !!!!
I have come home from work tonight onlt to find my route littered with 20mph signs and tar/chippings as far as the eye can see. No sooner do we get some weather which I can really enjoy riding in than they bugger it all up for me again.

Sorry for the random rant but this really does my nut in.

I have been through one road which was having the treament, 10mph signs the lot. This was on the way to Mallory park.

Its called 'surface dressing' and its the councils way of trying to save money, rather than re-laying a full stretch or road they spray it with tar and drop chippings on it...Then let the cars do the work of rolling it and sweeping them away.

There are usually signs (usually on the side of the road) with a speed on them that give the clue on what to drop down to. Rolling Eyes Mr. Green

Its the twats coming towards you going faster than they should that throw all the chippings up. Evil or Very Mad

yeah the sign says 20, the cars tend to do 30 so i do too but i noticed that on pheonix's description of a bike he is elling he said he has marked paintwork due to stone chippings so i was wondering if biker are more sensitive to stone chipings.

i guess i shd ask pheonix what speed he thinks he was doing to get the paint chips and I'll go a bit slower than that.

I wouldn't wanna go too fast due to the lickelihood that if you braked hard you would slide off the bike like in gravel.
