I've tried to double every speed limit on the bike. Obviously don't do it all the time though. Laughing

Technically its a private carpark ergo you can ignore the speed limits and zebra crossings to your hearts content.

They might do you for dangerous driving of course.

And i tend to behave when i need to/its not safe to speed, and i very rarely maintain high speeds, but im sure i triple a 40 everytime i go out (lots of 40mph duallies round mine).

Apart from 30s and residential 40s i ride at my own personal speed limit.

I usually keep to within a reasonable amount of the 30/40 limits even its safe to do more because I like my licence.

When I lived in the South-East I used to take a liberal view of some ridiculous 40 limits that should be NSL's though.

Out on the open road normally, try not to go more than 25ish over the limit, unless I'm out for a good thrash.

I tend to ride as fast as I feel comfortable except in 30/40 zones where I usually do 5-10 mph over the limit but not much more.
There are some ludicrous 40 limits which I break excessively but these are mostly ones which where NSL a few years back.
There are also some NSL villages which I will only do 25 through

I live in Central London and so find it best and safer to keep to the speed limit if I am riding anywhere within London. There has been too many times where people just run out from between parked cars or cars just pull out in your path thus causing me to always be extra carefull and observant when riding in London.

But when I get outside of London and hit a nice long A - road (with no parked cars lining it / hazards etc...) then I open the bike up and may go over the speed limit (yeah the bike is derestricted now). Twisted Evil
Also I am more likely to ride much faster on roads I know well so there is less chance of an unexpected hazard (like extra sharp bend etc..) taking me by surprise.

aiui, it's not the case since the change in the road traffic laws in the mid 90's which said that unless the private land is gated (and the fate is shut), it's subject to the same laws as the public highway.

It was an ammendment that was put in so they coud prosecute joyriders who were making the most of the loophole by arsing about in carparks.

however, only the recognised speed limits are enforceable.

30,40,50,60 and 70.

I was close enough then.

Im pretty certain privately marked zebra crossings are that legal either. Or else we could all just draw one and sit in the middle of the road.
