Has anyone on here got a pair or had a pair of either Swift Speed textile trousers or Buffalo Imola textile trousers?

I am looking for a cheap pair of (waterproof-ish) textile bike trousers just to use to go to work in over the summer. At the minute I ride in my jeans but this is obviously not very wise and so I am looking for some proper bike trousers. I don't want to spend a fortune, in fact the cheaper the better cos they are only for work. They don't have to be really waterproof as long as they can resist the odd shower, they are for summer use only.

I have found on the internet both the Swift Speed trousers and the Buffalo Imola trousers for sale for £30 plus postage and I am inclined to get a pair of one of these two. Has anyone else had any experience with either of these trousers or has anyone got any views on the good/bad points of these. All appropriate comments are welcome.

I got some swift pants from busters, came home in the rain riding them , was dry under neath , feels like the water is getting in cus its colder , I'd say that they are rather generous cut , due to the inner lining which is useful during the winter, which obviously I don't uise in the summer (though in its defence I have lost quite a bit of weight).

Does not have a zip internally to attach to anything , and you need a decent belt btw as the built in nylon belt doesn't stay even unstressed, I use one for jeans to keep em up , braces might be a good idea.

Armour is NOT knox but works ,last week I skidded on some oil and had 20mph off, landed on my right knee slid a bit , I was unhurt unlike a similar incident months ago (where all the skin was mushed up on me knee and it hurt like a bugger and went all black). armour was cracked and needed replacement , inner pocket to hold armour in partially torn ,

no road rash markings at all.

HOwever there is NO hip armour ,

an extra £10 will buy you a buffalo or was it spada pair o pants water proof knox in knees and hip.

but its better than nothing , or jeans which I learned to my painful cost months ago.

EDIT

0% breathable , which makes them reek of sweat which means need for lots of febreeze of sunny days you can hang them outside to get rid of stink.

EDIT 2 actually it might have felt colder due to the fact my fly on the pants was undone (its sealed but opens up so they are easier to take off

I bought a pair of Swift from Busters some time ago too.

I find them too tight around the crutch area but I think that might be due to my fat arse because my bollocks are tiny! Laughing They are not breathable as already mentioned so in the heat of the summer you do sweat underneath (even with only boxes on) which leads to an uncomfortable ride and a pain in the arse when you take them off!

The press buttons at the waist are crap, I put a bit of weight on over last Christmas and the buttons tended to pop constantly (next pair WILL have a decent belt!) the adjusters on the sides are also useless.

The knee protections are crap too contrary to what above said. They are held in place by a small velcro strip with the velcro coming undone letting the pads drop down to your shins so at the lights you are constantly pulling them back into place. I decided to place the pads in then place a series of safety pins over the velcro so the pads wouldnt drop any longer.

Other than that, I have used them all year round and been in some rainfalls and they have never let a drop in Thumbs Up

Would I get another pair!? NO! because I would save a little more money for a better pair (proberbly go for leather pants, textile top) and the cons outway the pros with these pants.

Hope this helps you in your choice! Wink

I bought some am i can't really fault them, get sticky on the hot days but i found that your legs stay whatever temperature they were when you put them in, so if your legs were cool when you put them in they will be cool when trousers come off.

I had a 45-50mph crash with them on and they took a beating but saved my skin so Thumbs Up from me. Armour is ok but can slide down a bit, they are great in winter, even on the coldest days my legs were toasty with only a thin pair of trousers underneath

Cheers, will try that. I think for the money you can't fault them, most other trousers start at £60. IF you can afford more, have a look at Hein Gericke they do good trousers for about £60-70

Quik_d, I assume you have the Swift Speed rather than the Buffalo Imola, correct?
