hey people ! I asked a few dealers what the top speed of the NSR de-restricted is and they said 70-80 MPh !!! That ain't true is it ? cause it needs to go at least 65mph to be learner legal and go on the motorway (which it is after the motorbike test). No way would derestiction only gain 10MPH am i right ??? Do you think the dealer is just telling me that from guess work, or does not want to tell me the engines capabilty , cause i heared they can pull to a 100mph ??? Confused

We'll the bike im buying is a de-resitricted import and i've been told it can reach 95mph and an import is slower than a de-restricted UK bike.

that last 1 was a lie. I have a fully de-restricted 2001 uk NSR with a Nikon racing system on. Also i have fitted a 15 tooth front sprocket. At the moment it does 95mph on straight with no wind and just over 100mph down hill. I will be getting it dyno tested on a rolling road to find out max BHP and where it is lacking power so i can tune it to a peak of performance

That was no lie, can be confirmed by other members of this forum and the gpz550 that was alongside me, my front sprocket is restricted, you sure you have derestricted yours correctly?

well matt (minesweeper) you're also lying! you're fully de-restricted (thanks to me) including proper size front sprocket. once exhaust and carb are de-restricted you can hit 95 before redline. on the flat about 100 and down hill about 105-8.

sounds like you need re-jetting if you can only reach those speeds. what speed do you hit in 6th at the redline? restricted should be 95, de-restricted should be about 105. with a full race exhaust you'd need re-jetting and a new airbox to get the full affect. what's the point in increased airflow though the exhaust if no more air and fuel can get into the engine?

So for me to get maximum performance i need to get a proper size front sprocket, derestrict the cabarettor (thats the air flow plate yeah Embarassed ) and have the exhaust drilled out ???

Well to get maximum performance you have to bode a blade engine in. But sticking with the bike you have...then yeah that should be all you need to do....things like race pipes increase acceleration and top end but I don't think they do enough for the money.

well a good indication is a restricted bike hits redline in 6th at 95mph. you say yours hits redline at 105 so that's a fairly good indication :)

Well, I got 97mph out of my 91 RK, and it felt like it had more to go...Unfortunately there was a chuffing great hedge cutter in the middle of the road coming towards me so I had to slow.
I had done nothing to my bike at this point and it has a dodgy bodges exhaust on it. Hmmmm

Perhaps that's what it is....my weight advantage Hah hah hah! I thought it was because I'd put half my fairing on (unsprayed no screen)...yea, less wind resistance man! Hehehehehehehehehheheehehhehe
