Does anybody know how to make them faster, I'm only getting a d/l rate of 8-10 kb a sec and its really getting stupid trying to download anything...

The torrent has plenty of seeders, and I use Azureus, how could I optimise it to go faster?

Cheers

Hello,

I was using Azureus a few days ago & was getting slow downloads & it was slowing down my whole pc, i swapped to Bitcomet & it's much faster & lets me browse aswell, i get speeds off 60kb.

I'm using a modem so don't have to forward anything i don't think, all i have to do is let it have acess.

Hmm, I'll have to try Bitcomet, but I think I have found the cause of my problem; a NAT error. Hopefully I can get my router to agree with the changes I need to make Neutral

a long long long long time ago i used to use newsgroups on a dialup account and always got max speed but then a long long long time ago i switched to shadows bittorrent client when i got broadband and i always got good rates and the green circle which indicated the best connection type.

but then all of a sudden a long long time ago it stopped and i only ever got the yellow indicator which meant you didnt have the best connection type and my rates dropped to practically nothing. i tried almost all clients and every router configuration out there and never got it to work properly again.

now ive been using newsgroups for a long time again and getting full throttle all the way Thumbs Up Cool

Just make sure your firewall is correctly set up.

Are you getting green smiley faces or red ones?

BitComet is good - I average 130-150 per download.

Tends to help if you only select torrents with high number of seeds to leaches ratio Thumbs Up

Still using the free version of eDonkey, but seems to be grinding to a halt lately.
I may well try an alternative application once we get the phone/internet connection sorted at the new house Thumbs Up

Best to try them all, I used bitcomet and it was fastest untill I tried µTorrent. It seems much faster and isn't as power hungry as all the others. Thumbs Up

I use BitLord. Always gives me downloads around the 60 mark, but sometimes in excess of 90.
Very reliable, never let me down

Wow, that mu torrent is excellent. I've never gotten more than 160k DL on a torrent. I just tried that and maxed my connection out at 480k. Very Happy Thumbs Up

Sorry to spoil your fun, But you all realise the client you use to download it has no affect on your speeds. (Unless your router hasnt got the port(s) open for that particular client)

Your speed is determined by the amount of people there is uploading to others (Seeds) You also download from other downloaders who have more than you (Leechers)

I'm sure most clients could be configured to give good speeds but for clueless people like me who just keep the default settings it seems to work better.

That being about the most fundermental part of Bit Torrent, there is lots more to it than that though. Why do you think there are so many different settings and lots of different clients to choose from?
