Whats the best glue to glue plastic fairings ?

Well i bought a new top fairing for my scooter and i went for a 5 min run and when i got back noticed loads of stress cracks ect so could someone tell me the best glue to glue the fairing back to once piece and make it stronger.

Any plastic glue on the underside Confused

Most will do, get some from halfords that is meant for that kind of thing.

Either that or get a plastic welding kit from Hein Gerike for £25.

if you wana make it stronger you should get yourself a fiberglase kit, thats what i used to repair my farings when i crashed my bike Thumbs Up

Aroldite (sp) 2 part epoxy resin
sand the reverse side of the panel to help bonding clean then mix up and apply.
Takes 24 hrs to harden (some go off quicker) and its harder than the origional plastic

is fibreglass hard to use as when i was at the scooter shop he went if i havent used it before i wont be able to do it, he then said hed do it for 25 quid. Neutral

I had a crack on my fairing so I just reinforced the back with that fibreglass stuff you can get from Halfords - good stuff Thumbs Up

araldite resin ends up too brittle.

use a sheet of fibre glass cloth on the inside.

prep the inside surface first with rough sandpaper and clean it with cold water or acetone for a good bond, leaving no lint.

depending on how big the cracks are, it may be necessary to use a tiny pilot drill, drill the ends of the crack to stop them travelling.

with the fairing lying down with the pilot hole level - fill the pilot hole with some touch up paint mixed with resin and dab it in with a pin til the hole is filled.

i use a soldering iron and an old plastic coathanger and basically melt/weld it back together, then just fill, file and paint Smile

Drag the soldering iron across the back of the crack and it will melt the plastic back together, You can then strengthen this using the coathanger like normal solder!

Cheap but it works, just my 2pence...
