if u can get the tyre off do so and if it is reparable give it a bash, or take it to a tyre centre n they will advise if it is repairable or not

Personally I'd change the tyre ASAP. I wouldn't want the thought of my tyre going down while I'm thrashing it along some twisties. I wouldn't be able to enjoy my riding until I had it changed.

Repairing it may be fine but still I wouldn't do it for the reasons above.

I'm not saying that's what you must do - it's just what I'd do Thumbs Up

FWIW I'd go for a new tyre every time, especially if you "use" your tyres. If it's a scooter you're using to get to the shops and back you could get it plugged (usually about £10-£15). NEVER use ultraseal, in my opinion it's a complete waste of time and even if it did work, I'd rather know about the hole in my tyre the next time i get a puncture.

As been said, if 'using' the tyres I'd bin it.

That said, surely if it was unsafe to plug a tyre then the plug wouldn't be available at any reputable tyre shop. It's in the interest of the tyre shop to sell an £80 tyre plus fitting than it is to carry out a £15 repair.

All said and done I'd fill my pants if my tyre were to blow at high speed, then kick myself if I got up afterwards for being such a cheapskate.

What a hipocrite (Is that how it's spelt?) I am. My front end was shaking for ages when slowing down before I decided to replace my front tyre and tighten the headstock. Then again, I am a cheapskate.

Good luck.

Anyone whos throws away good punctured tyres throw them in my direction please.

Got several nails in the rear tyre of my work bike, don't really care. Will wait until it needs replacing before doing anything.

Are you saying the nails are still in the tyre or that you have had the tyre repaired?

Still in there. Can't be bothered to remove them, they seem quite happy. Smile

The last time I took a tyre to be plugged was the rear off of my blade. 7 nails. Wouldn't have bothered but it went down.

Why extreme? I'm probably the only person on here who has had a tyre blow out and it was new.

You're probably right, but I worry too much. I'll remember to save my old tyres for you from now on.

ive got a nail in my rear tyre at the moment. its not leeking air and its been there for a month or so. i rag the pants off of it and it hasnt moved.

my mat hasnt bought a new tyre fo a long time. he gos round to a nearby bike shop and picks up nearly new tyres with nails in them and gets them plugged and fitted. he rides a bandit 600 and has never had any problems with plugs blowing out even with all the burnouts he doas.

its realy the choice of the rider, and what he or she feels comfortable with Thumbs Up

1. Remove nail
2. Insert self-tapping screw with some sealing compound on it
3. Reinflate tyre

Im with sickpup on this one.

My ER5 rear tyre was riddled with nails. I never had a blow out. Maybe I was lucky. If I didnt do that I'd be replacing them every week!

I was told by my tyre place that whist not ideal can get away with riding with a nail in the tyre. When the rubber heats up, it expands creating a tight seal aruond the nail so there's little chance of air escaping.
