The midwife came round yesterday and did a Cervical Sweep - she sticks her fingers into her hoo-haa and stirrs up the hormones n stuff- 50% of these start labour off within 48 hours, but as of yet nothing has happened.

She has been booked in to the hospital for Wednesday to have her waters broken if nothing happens between now and then.

*Edit* She has just called me. She has had some "light brownish goo" come out. This is the stuff that the baby is in, so this probably means hes getting closer to leaving the mother ship.

Most familys will help you out, such as your mum and dad will buy them goodies and stuff to wear and other people as gifts.

Some people the bonding bit hits them like an express train, others have to work on it. Same goes for parenting, some are naturals the rest of us graft. For social reasons you may have to pretend the express train bit , but if you are struggling dont worry, its perfectly normal and it will come with time, just stay involved and keep working on it.

My boy is now a 16 yr old and daughter is 12, it seems like they were toddlers only yesterday. I miss the innocense of them. Would'nt be without them and never consider them hard work.

Also I don't think that I have ever been the most paternal person, luckily the wife did all the decent parenting. I just played football with them

I hated the idea of giving up my toys to buy one's for a child but once she got old enough to play then I realised I had an even better excuse to act like a big kid.

There's no better feeling than somebody giving you an unexpected hug and telling you they love you for no other reason than they want to, not just for a new skirt.
