I hate my mother. And my father, for he was involved too.

My head is just the most fucking annoying shape its untrue. No fucking helmets fit me correctly, not agv, kbc, shark, nitro, shoei or arai do the trick.
They are either too short front to back or too tight around the back of my head, or too loose in general.

EXCEPT, and this is what makes me laugh, the Shoei X-Spirit and the Arai fecking Corsair. I think i officially have the worlds most expensive noggin. Mad

Either of these helmets will set me back well in excess of £400, which is just plain GAY.
I dont have this kind of money - had been saving pennies for ages to get an xr1000 but it just wont fit right and im not paying for a helmet that doesnt fit correctly.

The helmet i own at the mo is a Shoei XR800 which is well past its sell by date (was my dads). All other XR800's i have seen for sale say NOT FOR ROAD USE on them ??!! (its not an ideal helmet anyway, whole point of replacing it was to get a lighter and better fitting one Rolling Eyes )

Im just so irritated, i dont want to have to fork out so much money Crying or Very sad

If the Corsair fits you then the Astro R should too, not a massive saving but still a saving. I've got an RX-7 and tried on an Astro R as a replacement and both are the same fit for me, or as close a fit for me to not remember a difference, if you know what I mean.

It's quite clearly a lime.

As fer your head, try an Arai Astro-R, not exactly cheap but £300 (for a plain one) rather than £500, and should fit you if the Corsair does, as the dude above me said.

Try a Roof helmet. Worked for me when no others would.

Agreed. By skimping on a lid, you are potentially puttnig a price on your life.

whilst its hard, save harder, and get a decent skid lid.

Cheapest lid i ever bought was £390 for some Arai one, cant remember which type exactly - was a few years ago now. Im due a new one know though.

Do you only want a full face lid?

I see some nice looking Caberg open face ones, would look a bit stupid on a sports bike

i'd not go for a cheapo, £40 job.. but it doesn't have to be £400's of Arai either.

my HJC helmets are between £90 and £140 (for various models) and the one I was wearing when I hit the car head on did it's job admirably.

I think we're missing the important bit of the post here, he's already said what fits after trying loads on.

I have a Tackechi T36 lid for £65, I would have loved to buy a more expensive helmet but money is an issue, so the fact that the cheaper lids are just as safe is one hell of a good thing Thumbs Up I am not sure whether the same can be siad about cheap leathers Thinking

The more expensive lids have more comfort, better materials, lighter etc.

I did say POTENTIALLY fella. I never said that a cheaper helmet would definately not do the job.

I personally would only go for the likes of Arai, AGV etc. I have mates who've got HJCs, my old man included - nothing wrong with them. But for me, i prefer the likes of Arai and the like.

As you are when you choose to buy a mini rather than a big Volvo or one of those ex-soviet tanks that can be picked up these days.

As you do when you choose to ride a bike rather than stay at home, etc.

Unfortunately my head is also biased to Shoei/Arai - so far the original Raid Helmet seems to be by far the best fit (I do have a Raid II, but that's a bit less comfortable, though still fairly good for protection, I reckon.)

fair enough.... but I was simply replying based on how I interpreted your comments. I may not be the only one that took your post to infer that anything other than a £400 arai was less safe.

The Astro-R is a bit blunter in the chin it seems than the Corsair, makes me have my chin against the bar permanently. Saw the Edwards yellow Corsair for £399 on J&S - lovely paint scheme, but still too much money.

Raid II would have been good, but the fit around the back of the head is not right.
I did just see somewhere i can get a plain black X-spirit for £280, so that could be ok. (untill i find out that its £100 for delivery or some other con lol)

I absolutely Refuse to where a mellon.
*sigh*If only limes were larger - GM really isnt a bad think you know. Wink

Cheers for all the insights guys - i will try and find a roof dealer in my area. I must say the visor systems on Roof lids look horrible though.

Kaben Thumbs Up

The other thing is , i will feel like a right prick wearing a £400 helmet on a 125 with L-plates Neutral

And the bikes only worth £900 itself!

Try FM lids. My head wouldn't fit in anything apart from top line arias, but the FM ones fit it well.

I guess what i mean is having a helmet that is wind tunnel tested for top racers with air scoops and diffusers and then wearing it on a 125 that will just about get to an indicated 80mph is a little ridiculous.

Just found the Norick TC2 for £345 with free delivery. May have that away if i cant find nought else

suomy have very strange sizings. you could try one of them on as they also have less expensive options....plain colours but certainly not as expensive as the £400 fancy ones they do!.

Nice link..and was an interesting read Thumbs Up

Myself, I still wouldn't go cheapest. I now have a small collection of helmets (shoei, x-lite, Caberg, Schuberth), and I have found the most comfortable helmet that I have is my Schuberth C2. Not only the most comfortable, it is also VERY quite.

Out of the lot, this is the one I'm always wearing..
