sitting at 60 on a single carriageway in my car ... up ahead I see see two scoots coming the other way, side by side, doing approx 5mph with the kid closest the centre of the road apparently hanging or getting a tow from the first and clearly not paying attention to anything around him ... so I slow and move further kerbside ... he's wobbly, I slow more with a sagely 'watch this' to my wife ... just knowing what's about to happen ... as I get to them and just about to sound the horn, towed-boy wobbles off balance, almost falling straight into my path; cue wild swing away with thumb on horn ...

... towed boy sees a flash of ton-and-a-half car, inches from his face, passing wildly at almost 40mph ...

I am absolutely livid at almost wasting the little twat and look for somewhere to quickly turn back and deliver a furious lecture ... but with a car close behind and no opportunity to turn I'm too far away before the possibility arises ...

If you frequent these forums you little cnut, I hope the pant browning experience of a car that close to to wiping you out has taught you a lesson ...

Rant over ...

Seeing that you knew what was about to happen, maybe you should have given them more room? Just a thought.

there's a difference between overreacting to everything you see happen or about to happen on the road, or taking as much sensible precaution as you can but still leaving a little in reserve for your own safety' sake ...

Maybe the fact he didn't hit the kid means he gave them too much room!

The kid actually fell off? woowies.

Least you saw it coming, alot of other drivers would of had there foot on the gas still and probably wouldnt of been able to do anything in time.. Top job Very Happy

Hopfully this is the kids first scare, and the scare that he needs to make him rember that what he does can get very very dangerous if not fully concentrating

Maybe, maybe not bud, but the insinuation, unless it was just to add drama to the post, seems to be that the driver avoided the 'towed boy' by mere face inches, even though he just knew what was going to happen. Seems a bit sloppy thats all. If I say saw some pissed up naab staggering across the road I'd be pretty sure in 'knowing' what was about to happen so would be a generous Christian kind of fella and without going to the means of using a tape or anything, give him a metre or two. Infact I might even park up the bike after the slight change in direction (no wild swing away with thumb on horn here) and help the poor sod to the other of the road. But hey enough of my fantasy moments, I'd like to think I would have demonstrated similar tactics with the sccoter kids as well.
But well, erm, bollox to it?

arrrr I see ... no deliberate closeness, that'd be plain daft ... I'd given him plenty of space for even big wobblage over the centre line ... but what he did was something entirely different ...

falling off balance the scoot simply turned/ fell 90 degrees into my path as if it was about to flop over or do an impression of a highside and spit the kid off ...

... put it this way, he couldn't have come further over into my lane or left it later, even if he deliberately tried to hang a right in front of me ...
