Does anyone know of any biker friendly hotels/B&B's or camp sites either around fort william or aviemore area Question

Also is it possible to fit a weeks worth of camping stuff between a rs125 and a sv650? (we only have tank bags and back packs!) Confused

Lo m8 look at a couple of posts below in this section or click here https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=84817

I moved from Glasgow to Ullapool and would recommend The Arch Inn (hotel on shore of Ullapool). Ullapool is a good starting point for doing the the highlands and a lot of bikers use it as a base camp. It is a lot further that Fort William and Avimore but they are some real good roads up here if your tryes can take the wear.

Can't help with Aviemore (I find it a bit of a tourist dive, however it's useful for stocking up). However, campsite in Braemar on the left as you come into it on the A93 from the Spittal of Glenshee.

You can wild camp up in Scotland, that is find a piece of flat ground near some water and set up there. Make sure your bike(s) are off the road and on hard ground.

One thing though, watch out for the midges. They like being near water, bog, marsh or in the forests.

FWIW you could https://www.bikechatforums.com/templates/standard/images/lang_english/icon_pm.gif stinkwheel as he's probably been to more sites in Scotland than anyone else I could suggest. However, as his current tagline says 'Stinkwheel will be riding his motorbike until early July, sleeping in a tent and cooking on a fire. He will probably be nowhere near a computer.'.

Quick answer yes. If you don't want to bother with panniers suggest getting one of the waterproof stufsacs (long tube thingies), some of the anti-slip mats (also stops rubbing on paintwork) and bungies for strapping it to the pillion. Just pack carefully and be ruthless as to what you'll actually need. Make sure you take some stuff to look after the bikes though and don't pack waterproofs at the bottom Wink Try not to use a rucsac/back pack, it's safer and also let the bike be the pack horse.

HTH Thumbs Up

Cool pic feef, always think bikes look cool when loaded with gear.
Just out of interset, what do you do when your parked up? I'd be paranoid about it getting nicked. (obviously not aproblem when touring in the middle of nowhere!

we were early in the season in france, so the campsites were deserted. I also made a point of chatting to the owner/staff as I came in and left so they were aware of our movements. my thinking was that if they saw someone in/around our tent they'd know we were out and perhaps do something.

other than that, I just zipped the tent up and left all my stuff in there.

important and Expensive items like cameras, cash, passports, papers etc all came with us when we went out tho.
