Im set to get a 100cc Peugeot soon once ive passed my CBT.
I would hazard a guess I could ride to Brighton to see other half (as trains bore the life outta me)
I know I cant ride on motorways but what about 'A' roads?

I would use A3, A27 & A23 is this allowed on a 100cc on a CBT or do I too need to pass my full licence?

A Road are fine.

But why a 100cc Scooter? Don't fancy a geared 125 or even a 125cc Scooter?

Try telling my partner that. I would love to get Aprilia 125, or any geared bike. But for now its scooter or nothing Embarassed

I only asked the question because alot of cars do 60-70 on the A roads to Brighton, some are dual carriage ways. The thought of me doing 50 and someone flying past me is kinda worrying Neutral

You are allowed to A roads on a 50cc moped restricted to 30mph... I wouldn't want to and I wouldn't on a 100cc scooter either.

Why does your other half dictate what you ride? Especially why do they want you on a more dangerous vehicle Confused.

Personally, I would look at a 2 stroke 125cc sports style bike for that.

Is your partner your dad or something?!

I'd rather ride a bike with decent sized wheels to be honest with you, much safer, and less road users take the piss I'd imagine as well.

Keep bike for a few months and move up a gear, They would be more happy with that I guess.

a 125 scoot wouldn’t cost any more than a 100cc Peugeot

Because they are not very happy with me getting a bike, they have limited me to around 500 mark. So its a case of looking for bargains.

The Speedfight will do 60mph indicated at full throttle (I've had 65 out of mine downhill!).

How far is it to Brighton? My bum would go numb on my scooter after about 45mins, which is where I had to take her for services. I wouldn't recommend it for longer journeys than that really, but round town it was great.

Are they not happy with you getting a bike because they think it's dangerous, then want to limit you to a more dangerous vehicle because of this? Confused

I would think most NSR125s will fairly easily out-break you average scooter.

It should also out-brake one Wink.

Ask them to explain exactly why - or better still, get them to make a post on here explaining why they think what they do Smile.

compared to my nsr my scooter was a death trap, drives doing everything in their power to over take me (nearly hitting me many many many times), now im on an nsr i can get away from these drivers, i dont get as many problems as i used to, and i would never go back to a scooter (well maybe to mess about on one)

just cause you get a fast bike doesnt mean you have to go fast, as long as your keeping up with the traffic, and watching out for every threat, you'll live.

Well, for one they are a Police Officer and see many bike accidents every week.
I asked today, well I told them that a scooter is far dangerous then a 125 sporty bike. There excuse was

'So, a 125cc is less dangerous then a 50cc blah blah blah'
And also, its not the bike - its the rider
She has no trust in me on a bike. He firsts words were
'ill be racing Steve (work mate) on the first day of getting a bike'
I may be a stupid idiot once in a while, but when I'm in/on a motor a whole new person is born lol!

If you do your home work you can find some real nice roads, I travel from Manchester to daresbury (runcorn way) good 40 miles to work and found (after some experimenting) a fab route, have a full licence and a nice powerful bike that would be more than happy on the motorway but still prefer to use the back roads, far more fun, than sitting on a motorway and takes the same time.

Roads like the A50, A1, A34, A500 for the most part are just as good as motorways, wouldn't have thought you'd have to many problems at 50 mph only issue may be big hgv's as they seem to think they are supposed to be the slowest and given it takes them so long to get up to speed they don't like slowing down, but just hold your own, you have as much right as them to be there.

I bet they see a lot of car accidents every week, muggings and domestic disputes, too. Does that mean you shouldn't go in a car, leave the house nor stay in the house?

You've got a far better chance of keeping up with the flow of the traffic on a 125 than you do on a 50, which REDUCES the number of times other people try to run you off the road.

So by their own admission, it wouldn't matter what bike it was - a 50cc moped or a 1 litre sportsbike.

Can you afford to tell them to keep their money, and do what YOU want to do?

Good point about the cars ect.
I cant afford to buy my own bike at the moment hence the cash loan from her.
Unless I get a small loan from this company which will only put me in more dogs doo doo with her.

In regards to a DNA yes we have both looked into one and they like them (Plus its not geared) but they can be pricey around the 900 mark.
Maybe I should just save for a while. BUt im dying to get a new job outside of my home town as there is nothing here.
So the sooner the better.

Could you not just go along with them for now and ride the scooter for 6 months or so?

In this time you can show them how much of a sensible rider you are etc, then you can start to soften them up a bit, tell them how the scoot is great but you've outgrown it, you'd feel safer on something a little faster etc.

Just a thought. Thumbs Up
