Where was the camera mate (I live near Preston)

Do you know how long it was red for before you went through it?

Hi

There is a delay between the lights going red and the camera activating. However it is a fairly short delay these days. You best hope is that it was either out of film or not loaded.

All the best

Keith

If it was 2-3 seconds you should be ok, they are usually set at 5 seconds plus. Thumbs Up

5 seconds sounds like an awfully long amount of time for a delay. Confused

I've gone through a couple of amber / red lights by accident Shifty and then realised that there has been a camera present, never got ticket Confused

Either the camera was not working, a decoy or shot through before the camera was 'armed and ready'.

Bad luck if you get a ticket, the sun does make traffic lights difficult to see sometimes Wink

Probably on the turn, or red when crossed the line

That can't be right? Surely.

At crossroads the opposing traffic lights change to green about 2 seconds after yours have changed to red.

In my opinion 2 seconds would be pushing it, if there are people steaming through red lights 5 seconds after they change then I'm really worried about being on the road!!!

Hi

Think when they first started using these cameras it was a long delay like 5 seconds. It has been reported that the delay has been reduced. From memory something like 1~2 seconds now.

All the best

Keith

You're more than welcome. I'm assuming it's the same sun I've been experiencing whilst driving with for the last 22 years? Or do you ride on a different planet? Apart from blown bulbs, I've yet to be unable to tell what colour a traffic light is, regardless of weather and lighting conditions.

Again, I hope you do get a ticket - it might focus your attention a little better, and perhaps save someone's life. Who knows, it might even be yours.

Once they are on RED the camera is active as amber also means STOP therefore giving plenty of time, there is no delay or wasn't unless they have gone soft in their own age. Just wish we had more red light cameras around here, it would make it safer for everyone.

I hate those things ,

even though on principle they are a so so proposition , why? , because what happens is I go through on green then some tit decides to turn left or right takes his time over it and the lights change to yellow and I'm right in the middle of a junction.(whats the legal situation on this my instructor once said once you have crossed the white line the traffic light no longer applies to you , but I can't remember if this was to do with turning or going straight through).

Undecided if moving = ticket
or not moving = crushed like a bug

Also the yellow on the traffic light sequence seems to have gotten shorter , that said on my main routes even on green I slow down for them. My dad was surprised and skidded his car earlier today the sequence change was so fast (Bolton , near the Esso petrol station on the road parrallel to Chadwich street).

If it was forward facing relax... just don't do it again as going through red lights is VERY dangerous. No one looks before crossing a junction in which the opposing/adjacent traffic is stopped.
