Penalty/ban question.

I omitted this bit of the crash from most people till now because I'm so embarrassed/ashamed. I was well over the limit when I crashed but can't find certain facts about it on the net.

I understand it's at least 12months + max of £5k. What I'm not sure about is will I have to retake theory and practical test when the ban expires?

Please no "f'ing idiot" remarks, I know it was incredibly stupid.

I know two people who have been banned for drink driving.
The first got a 12 month ban and got his license sent back automatically, the 2nd had to re take everything.
I think it depends on the judge etc.

Important thing is you learn from your mistake and dont re-offend

Hi

General one is a 12 month ban. You might manage to get a reduction for attending some kind of alcohol awareness course (someone I know had theres reduced from 12 months to 9 months for that).

In theory you should not have to do a resit, but they could add that as an extra penalty.

Also depends on what you mean by 'well over'.

Mate of mine got 18 months ban - think he was about double the limit (in a car) but didnt have to retake a test

Cheers for replies, guess I just have to wait for the court hearing and be honest. Friend of a friend said you can do St.Johns which takes off 4 months? Can I still race on the track/get a novice clubmans?

More people drink drive than will ever admit it. Just as many take drugs and drive.

I was with my mate when he got pulled over, i think he was 3 or 4 times over the limit (can't remember now) but he got 2 of my friends to say in court his drink had vodka in without him realising.

He was looking at a year ban with a heavy fine and he got off all the charges, and my 2 mates weren't charged because they were being "honest"

Cost him 3k legal fees and 1k between my two mates.

One of the reasons I did drink was just that reason,motorcyclists never get pulled for drinking. Maybe they need to address that.

Had my license around 3 years I think so hopefully it'll just be a 9 month ban.

I got 15 months for a breath reading of 56mg/whatever it is they measure it by... If I could have afforded the drink awareness thing it would have gone down to 12 months, but I couldn't. All is well now though, licence back and I got a quote on my bike for less than I was paying before Thumbs Up
