Why waste all that money on a house?

Get yourself a 4 bed detached in Staffordshire for £100k...and then, well, you could retire!!

Move to the south west, buy a nice country cottage for about 400-500k. For 700k down here you can get a pretty decent house, 7 beds with land, but then this probably isnt the area you'r looking at

mine i bought 4 years ago and the house prices where low then and the house did happen to be 133 years old and oldest in the city. small though but got starter. now you dont get a decent house for less than £100 000 over here. and thats a posh one if its over a hundred. my parents one is near £200 000 and you would think that was cheap in england but its dear over here.

I live in the north-east and for that amount you can buy a 8 bed roomed house, with land, a double garage, 2 on-suit bathrooms, a master bathroom, 2 main lounges, a huge kitchen with patio and conservertory and a load of other things.

I'm not joking Exclamation

Anything you damn well want Rolling Eyes

Both my wife and I are nurses, we work our asses off to earn a living and the combined earings mean we can afford a house in the region of 150-190k, that fucking sucks Thumbs Down Living in the South East means that this does'nt exactly go very far Mad

We have no loans or debts, thats just cos we get a shit pay check at the end of the month.

Half a mil, would buy you a fecking huge area of land to build a massive house and still have money left over in any county, so why ask what it would buy?

Web sites like:

www.rightmove.co.uk
www.fish4homes.co.uk
www.teamprop.co.uk

Give you an idea as you just punch in a region, or town and an upper or lower limit.

Not round here it wouldn't.

Would buy you a reasonable 4 bed detached house fairly near the town centre, but not much more.

Decent areas in london it would get you a lot, lot less.

No mention of london, yes of course in the middle of a sprawling metropolis, you are'nt gonna get value for money as land is at a premium.

London is too busy to live, the house prices here are just abit more then london so i wouldn't be getting the moneys worth.

This house that i am in now was brought 10 years ago for £110k and since the boom in prices it would prob get just over £500k, nice profit for doing little work.

I know someone that payed £200k for theres few years ago and sold it for over £700k

Its kind of a funny thought that 'we' cant afford to live in our own houses if we were to try and buy them now
