Use your road bike.

There's no point buying a dedicated track bike until it's become a serious enough hobby to justify it. And even then it's debatable if your bike is suited to track use (ie. anything sporty).

Who cares what everyone else is riding? I've seen plenty 'unlikely' bikes on trackdays - cruisers, big tourers, everything.

Binning it... that happens on the road too.

Ride your own, if your planning on going in the novice group (which you should as its yor 1st (I didnt Whistle ) you wont be the slowest anyhow. (unless you are really slow) Just dont push the bike too hard. Very Happy

Sign on usually is between 4-5pm iirc.

A Z750 certainly won't look out of place on a track-day.

£200 saved on hiring a bike, plus the deposit if you bin it will go a long was to restoring/replacing plastics/levers that get damaged on the usual track-day prangs. Do more than 2 and your quids in.

I did two full days on my R1 road bike, and decided that it was too nice (and expensive) to thrash to shit. I was also becoming very bored with the road so I sold it and bought a road registered track bike and got plenty of change. I've got the option of using it on the road if I really want to; but a trackday a month is my fix at the moment.
