ive got that problem i bought my house 5 years ago just a little terrace for me and my cats, it cost me £15,000 it was cheap it had no windows, heating or hot water pipework it was stripped it did have a carpet though, i spent 3 grand doing it up its woeth 75,000 now. if you want a cheap house move to the north west, huge houses are going for as `little` as 250- 300,000 but who would want to live round here, although theres no speed cameras in my town . But now i dont earn enough to buy my own house

Do you need to be near anywhere for work or the like?

I'm in Lowestoft on the border on Norfolk and Suffolk, right on the coast. Houses round here are dirt cheap, but it can be a git to. Still a nice place with a real laid back feel to the place.

Just seen a place in Gt Yarmough. £355K, 11 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms. Was a guest house, can be an easy way to rake in cash!

My mate bought a normal house, 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms lounge, diner + attic room for £85K
