i have to ask.

three months ago i had a crash and well i injured my knee, first thing i landed on. i couldnt walk well but apparently it wasnt broken cause i could still walk.

three months down the line i have no feeling on the skin of it and its still sore and feels really weird like it should not be there. its hard to describe. i have asked for x rays but they wont give one.

does it take that long for it to heal and why does it feel numb and out of place still? they said it was just bruised.

Suzuki's is a little similar.

He still has problems with it several years later, and we're not 100% sure how he damaged it.

I keep trying to persuade him to at least see a physio - if you can afford an appointment with one (NHS waiting lists for physios are absurd) I would go and get yourself checked out.

My ankle still gives me grief after I crashed last June. I think I must have damaged the ligaments (or something) as it never feels quite right and occassionally (either playing football or drunken dancing) I'll hurt it again and end up limping for a few days...

Surely they gave you some indication of what damage you'd done to it?

well theres not many nerves there anyway , but old injuries still hurt now and again , esp when it gets really cold ,

they are physically fine xrays no broken bones or what not , but I did self physio on them using some traditional herbal family remedy to rub into such injuries they go all red and swell up a bit for a few days after but soon heal up better than nothing.

I've injured both legs and my left one got this poison rubbed into it hurt like hell for a few days , but has healed as if nothing had happened , my right leg did not get this treatment until a couple weeks later it still aches now and again.

Just go to the docs again complain no end about your worry and lack of feeling in it and they should xray it. They can see any problems you have from that, even down to infection I think.

Theres a nerve which runs just under the kneecap which controls the feeling over the skin over the kneecap. Who've damaged it. Nothing serious.

I wrecked my left knee in 1999 playing football, my leg went at right angles at the knee. I ruptured lateral ligaments and cruciate.
But the long after effect is known as foot drop.
There is a long trunk of nerves that runs down the outside of the leg from the knee to the ankle, anyway this trunk was crushed and the nerves which run down to the ankle have severed.

I get this tingling sensation under the skin, it feels like someone running a finger down my leg, it is a weird sensation hard to describe also.

Do you have a limp of any sort?

Very close to my injury.

Both Cruciates and the lateral .

The nerve you are refering to iirc is the common perennial nerve which winds around the outside of the knee and controls sensation on top of the foot and the ability to raise the twist foot. Mine was crushed and not severed but 9 years later I have 4/5 on the strength scale. Took nearly 3.5 years to have any recovery.

Have you had nerve conduction tests yet? If you have tingling under the skin the nerve is intact.

The nerve dragonfly is or appears to be having problems with is the one that crosses over the lower patella tendon which controls sensation in the skin over the kneecap.

Often not true, I have not tried a broken knee but you can walk with a broken femur (painfully)

It does sound a bit like nerve damage and if as sickpup says there is one there then that could be it. If this is the case a xray wont help.
If its giving you jip you need to hassle the doctor.

Regards
Charlotte

Yeah i had if i recall the Faraday treatment at the time, whereby a machine pulses electric shocks through to the nerves. When i walk i tend to slap my foot down, and every now and again I will just stumble.
Also I get the sensation that my knee will also just give way.
I started riding scooters and put off riding a geared bike because I had convinced myself that could'nt use the gear shift on the bike. but its amazing how you can adapt.

King Kong.

Just had a thought. Did they repair your Lateral by wiring it back into place and if so is the wire still in your leg?

Just slapped in plaster, although |i was lucky enough to have an MRI. Also a couple of years ago the whole knee swelled up, I went to A & E and they inserted this bloody great needle into the side of the knee and drew out liquid, if the lquid came out clean then that was a sign of no rupture. If it came out with bits of gore and blood then that is a sign of tissue rupture.
It was quite incredible seeing that needle go in, I swear it was wider than my leg, I was half expecting it come out the otherside.

MRI tests are very limited in what they can see due to being a static not dynamic test. Pivot shift shows up more but very few consultants seem to use it.

My Anterior cruciate was a few inchs longer than it should have been but an MRI can't show this so my knee constantly collapsed.
