One or 2 piece (zip together) leathers for most, if not all I think.

Compared to a track day, you have not ragged your bike through a tank of petrol.

All the best

You don't need track fairings and tyres should last a fair while unless your using specific race tyres, which seeing as your new to trackdays won't be neccesary.

Provided you don't crash (unlikely if you ease yourself into the day gradually), the only extra expense will be your fuel, which won't be more than two tank-fulls.

As mentioned you will need appropriate clothing.

Depends on the circuit, for example at Lydden usually can get away with a tank and a bit whereas at Silverstone last year I used over 3 tanks full.

If you do ride to a track day, please make sure you've got someway of getting yourself and the bike back home if the worst case does happen (don't rely on breakdown cover as a lot of policies exclude crashes).

Generally I try and take with me at least:

Arrow Bike
Arrow Leathers
Arrow Van or trailer
Arrow 2 x Jerry Cans
Arrow Tools (e.g. socket set, screwdrivers & allen keys)
Arrow Food & Drink (as food at track can be expensive)
Arrow Foot pump & Tyre Guage
Arrow Oil & Chain Lube

Also normally take paddock stands and tyre warmers.

Before you go, just make sure your bike's in good mechanical order (e.g. tyres have sufficient tread, oil level, coolant level & not leaking any fluids) as it will work a lot harder than it has before.

equally make sure YOU're in good mechanical order..

drink lots of fluids while you're there.. you may not feel hot if it's a cool day but you will lose fluids thru perspiration.

somthing everyone seems to have forgotten to mention is dont forget your licence Embarassed
and if you take bike in a back of a van or use a trailer dont forget the bike keys (dont leave them in when bike is on a trailer)

just take the basics as it will be the first time on track,
keep it simple and have FUN Wink

Arguments sake a 3 gallon tank, thats 9 gallons. Lets say 25 mpg thats 225 miles. 7 sessions, thats 32 miles per session. 32 miles in 20mins is an average speed of 96mph.

Now Lavilla/Haslam/Reynolds were riding 90mph in Silverstones BSB last season. Shocked

Come on, show me where I went wrong with my calculations Very Happy

On the fuel consumption bit. Try working it out at 20mpg?

One fatal flaw in this; BSB ride the International circuit which is much smaller, and slower than the GP circuit. Hanger Straight alone will suck the petrol from a bike.

Granted, normally two tanks is enough. I've filled up three times before though too. I doubt I'd get 25mpg on a trackday either.

Not sure if it's been mentioned or linked to,

but perhaps aquiring a spare brake/clutch/gear lever would be advised, should a minor spil occur, these speares will allow you to carry on should you wish to, along with the gaffa tape and mallet as above.

Also your helmet needs to be Gold stickered ACU approved,

A tyre pressure gauge is not neccasary but you'll need to keep an eye on your tyres, you could scrounge a gauge off someone else on the day.

This knowledge from the trackdays you've done?

truth is, no-one really cares about the gold sticker, although if you've got it it's better than not having it.

You definitely need a pressure guage. Everyone should be checking their tyre pressures on track.

Only sensible thing is that yes, spare levers aren't a bad idea.

no its info I feel applies to the question asked,
I've helped friends with their track days for 2 years,

I've not known anyone get checked for the sticker on their helmet, however wouldn't it spoil your day if you were to be spot checked and not have the sticker...? I'm pretty sure it's in the track day guidlines for a reason along with the zip together leathers, suitable gloves and boots.

Spare levers can be as little as £20 for all four (for my bike anyhow) for the sake of £20 or losing out on the rest of your track day I think the intelligent thing to do would be to carry the spare levers, they're handy anyway, arn't going to loose value, if you never use them you can just sell them on.

For a first track day, just turn up on your bike. Take some food and plenty to drink in a back pack and your wallet with licence in and your all set.
Ride to the track sign on, have fun, pootle home.

Bike prep needs to be minimal, if you have a glass light (you prob dont) you should tape it up. removing mirors is also a good sugestion. As for tyre presure there is normally a tyre guy there who will set them for you.

Just go and have fun. You dont need to take a whole lorry full of shit to have fun on a track day.
