Was driving home the other night and the chain fell off!! put it back on easily but when I phoned a mechanic to get some advise he told me to bring it in to get the Chain tension tightened. (with a small charge of course!!) can this be done easily because ive been ripped off enough by garages since my crash and I really cant be arsed with all the bullshit and hassle of finding what else they can "look at" for me. So I would rather do it myself.
Any help would be appreciated.

PS. sorry about the crap name will think up a better one soon.

It's not that hard but kieth or G will explain it better to you than me, just so you know when my chain started falling off it was because the sprocket was very worn and not holding right.

could be worth a look at the teeth of your sprockets.

Hi

To tighten the chain, slacken off the rear axle, just so it is a bit looser. Then tighten the nuts on each side on the back of the swinging arm. Tighten each one the same amount (count the number of flats). Everything should stay under tension, so the wheel should stay straight. You want around 25mm of play in the chain. Once you have done this tighten up the axle again

Make sure you lube the chain. Get a proper spray can of chain lube, but if you can put up with the mess and get caught short just use almost any oil (on the 1200 Bandit I use Castrol GTX at the moment, and the chain has done 14000 miles and is not much worn at all, but it makes a bit of a mess).

All the best

Keith
