Just need to clarify these for myself.
1) Is a lifesaver just looking in the mirrors to see behind you or is it where you actually have to turn and look?
2) Does it matter how/when you change down gears? I keep hearing mention of the correct procedure being not to use so much engine breaking and change down the gears just before you stop. The way I ride at the moment, I change down rather more gradually as I look ahead and see where I'll be slowing down.
Cheers. ____________________ :: Honda XR 125 L ('53) => Kawasaki GPZ 500S ('02) => Suzuki SV650S ('00) => Aprilia RSV-R ('51) :: |

A lifesaver is the final check before you turn at a junction or turn into a junction. You should do a shoulder check before moving your lane position, and then a lifesaver just before you turn and just before you pull away.
They're not going to notice when you change down unless you're being stupid. Just do what feels right. |
