Hey guys, I tried a lot of xxl helmets at the local bike shop but none fitted properly. The shoei raid2 xxl was -almost- the right fit but still pretty uncomfortable

Does anyone know if any full face bike helmet manufacturers sizes are larger than average, or do any XXXL helmets exist? Couldn't find any on ebay Sad

Cheers for any advice you can offer

They don't have to wear helmets due to the turban being an item of religious headwear.

A friend of mine has exactly the same problem. I know that's not much help to you, but I will certainly be interested to hear if you find anything.

Actually this nice guy on the MCN forums had this to say, might help your friend if he's got £350 burning a hole in his pocket.

Shame on those shops you went to for not offering to order the larger sizes for you to try.
That's really bad.
Here's an example of some Arai sizes.
No problem.

It's worth giving X-Lite a try. Excellent helmets and seem to be bigger than most others. Most Nolan helmets are the same actually. Think they start at around £150.

i have that problem with shoei, got an arai condor XXL fits perfectly, if you have an arai shaped head nothing else will fit right i found this out after going through several makes all of which 'almost' fitted but were uncomfy. the condor is an excellent helmet and can be had for £180 if you get a plain colour. worth trying one on Thumbs Up

Lazers seem to be sized a bit bigger than the majority, I've taken a medium in every other lid I've ever tried but the Lazer I had was a Small and that was still a bit big for me.

You could try the Jivaro Indian tribe from South America, I am sure they could sort you out with something.

Try all of them, in different bike shops.

I had to go to about 8 shops until I found one that fitted properly.

Arai I know will custom make a helmet for you. Of course, they'll need your head to do some measuring so if you can make it down to their main production place or perhaps to a big bike event (where they usually attend) they can get one made for you.

Think other large manufacturers are doing this also.

Google searches have proved to be a failure in coming up with such information but I can guarantee you that if you email RiDE or BiKE magazines, someone there will provide you with details as it is in one of those magazines that I heard about it.

I had a similar problem, and basically tried at least one of the biggest helmets from every manufacturer I could get hold of before making my choice. (Thanks go to my local Hein Gericke store on this one Thumbs Up Wink )
Each manufacturer seems to have slightly different ideas of what an "average" head shape is like, so you should just go out and try as many as you can.
I finally chose an XL sized AGV V-Flyer (as in my avatar)

Does your local delaer stock ARAI lids???
If they do talk to them and arrange for the a ARAI technician to be there, they can change all the pads etc to make them fit.

I have the same problem, hard to find a lid that fits me.

Arai do seem to be a better fit for 'rounder' heads!

I tried a Shoei and it was as uncomfortable as fu*k and the dealer said that they were more shaped for longer heads/faces so tried an Arai and have never gone back to another brand. So it's definatly worth trying as many different brands as possible and you may find one that fits your headshape better. Thumbs Up
