On my way to work this morning, I was imagining all the other bikers in the country making their way to work, and wondered what sort of journeys they had.
Nice twisty backroads? Boring motorway? Hectic city traffic?

So, I decided to put this poll/thread up to find out! Very Happy

My commute includes some 30mph town driving, some NSL A roads in the countryside, 15 miles of motorways (M5 and M42), some 40mph dual carriageway, and then a bit of industrial estate.
However, if the motorways are really bad, or it's just a really nice hot day, I'll take the long route round the outside of the motorways through the few twisties that there are around here.

How about you?

Short blast from the bed to the door, then a fearsome left/right, long drag along the landing and a hairpin to my computer.

My last commute was a mixture of 30, 40, 50, and national limits. Mostly A road (A4 and Bristol ring road).

I used to get to ~180 miles before I was warned of low fuel (3.5L reserve) on this route. Currently, my biking is mainly pottering about local roads and into town, except for the occasional longer trip involving A roads/motorways. This figure has now plummeted to ~150 Thumbs Down
Just shows what lots of stopping and starting, low gear work, and idling in traffic can do.

A road, country B road, A road, Dual Carriageway and Business Park in that order. All comes to about 11-12 miles, but can add another 50 miles of B roads to that if the mood takes me on the way home.

Thats a bit strange because I was thinking the same thing this morning as well! I only have to travel about 6-7 miles mostly town driving.

My route consists of couple of very straight 30 and 50 speed limit roads and then a town centre and a bit of an industrial estate.

4 miles of Suburbia , through some minor towns, then 6 miles of busier built up slums and industrial areas and 0.5 miles of city centre to where I park.

the stop start low gear filtering (at highish speed to utilise the engine brake) , utterly crushes my MPG though , £23 can get me 300 miles on motorway work, £11 has been getting me in and out 5 days a week.

My way to work is pretty boring, about 4 miles through slight town traffic.

Now coming home is a different matter, it only takes me 10mins to get to work and 45 to get home.

I love working lates i finish at 1am and the roads are empty.

1 mile dual carriageway
30 miles motorway*
4 miles country lanes
1 mile town

* which is why I sold the Enfield.

My ride is 9.2 miles of South London's finest congested roads.

Still, I'm damn good at it. When it comes to twisty country lanes however, I'm embarrasingly crap!

A boring one mile walk down a main road.
Unless I'm at my GFs in which case its 3 miles of Nottingham city centre followed by 6 miles of town riding - great Rolling Eyes

Hi, it's a mixture of country roads, twistys, NSL single carriage ways, A + B roads through villages and towns.

3 or 4 miles of residential areas, in 30 - 40mph areas
then another 3 or 4 miles of inner city riding
