Just had my first accident on the way to work this morning. Waiting to turn left at an island the driver behind failed to stop and collided with the rear end of my bike shunting me forward. Luckily, I managed to keep my balance and hold the bike up.

At turning round to see the damage I could see the end of my exhaust sticking into the cars bumper. I put the bike on its side stand and looked at the rear end of my bike to find no sign of my registration plate and the bracket it once sat on was bent round a little. Looking at the car I noticed my plate was actually sitting beneath the car just past the passenger side door.....I thought bloody hell, how far did the driver shunt me lol.

Anyway all the driver could say was "sorry my fault, here take my name and number and give me a call, im going to be late for work" (!!!) - I thought to myself f**king hell is that all your concerned about! looking at the car I could see they must have had much experience of this as the car had numerous dents in it. I took their details and registration number and then the driver took off leaving me there at the side of the road.

Another biker came along on a modified NSR and offered assistance and even took a look at my bike Thumbs Up He said it looks ok but said probably best not to ride it (after I explained what happened) just in case there was any hidden damage to the wheel/ rear disk brake.

Called road side recovery to get it recovered and while I was waiting another biker on a Honda Hornet stopped to offer assistance also and to see if I was alright......aren't bikers kind Very Happy

So if you are one of these two riders that stopped this morning I would like to say a big thank you! Thumbs Up

Just waiting now for the bike to be checked over but will keep you all updated.

By the way it was my new Honda NSR-RR that was hit Crying or Very sad , luckily I have my other 92 NSR FII to use for the timebeing Cool

You only need to ring the police if someone is injured in the accident or if one of the parties involved fails to stop.

I had my first incident only a week after passing my CBT.

The funny thing is, that I wasn't even within 50 yards of my bike when it happened.

I pulled over to the shops, and went in to buy some food. When I came out, I noticed that my bike had moved a few feet, and was pointing another direction. Alarmed, I had a closer look and realised that there was petrol all over the floor, and a number of new scratches on the side of the petrol tank. Also my wing mirror was knocked out of place.

Confused, I looked around for assistance. The shops were quite busy at the time. A woman came out of a nearby newsagent and said she saw the whole thing - apparently a guy reversed into my bike, knocked it over, got out, picked the bike up and drove off.

Luckily she took down the number plate, so I informed the police but that was back in March, and although I had to write a statement a few months ago I haven't heard anything from them yet.

By the way, the bike wasn't damaged, only cosmetically. The engine was flooded for an hour or so though. The bike was an old Yamaha YB100 which already had it's fair share of scratches... But since the incident that same bike has been stolen. So I don't know if I can claim back on it or anything now that the bike has been nicked, and I have a new one.

People are bastards.

Hi all, I have heard back from Sutton Motorcycles and after a thorough going over they said the rear end is ok and safe to use. They also re-attached my reg plate (after bending the holder back into place) and said it was all free of charge......very nice of them so a big thanks goes to them too! - not that I would have had to pay up anyway but nice nonetheless.

It was a female driver that hit me and I would not be surprised if she was too busy looking at her stereo or something than paying attention to the road. I have told my insurance company that she admitted responsibility.

Feel a bit silly though about having the bike recovered especially as I find now there was no real damage to the back end. Although I suppose if I carried on and there was unseen damage and it caused the bike to fail then I would not have had a leg to stand on.

been down that road myself, even have it in a witness testimoniy for her defence and it means jack shit. Admittance at the side of the road (according to solicitors) can be shrouded by the shock of the event. Even so its his word against the other parties unless you have a genuine independant witness.

unfortunately, there were no witnesses, everyone just carried on - did not want to be late for work I guess.

Cant really see her squirming her way out of it anyway as she went into me while I was stationary. the road was clear behind me when I stopped so she must have had her head in the clouds when she approached shortly afterwards. There was also enough room for her to pull up alongside me so it was not like she was tight for space.

I was reversed over whilst I was stationary. Still trying to pin the blame on me 13-14 months later. Just dont let up on her and her insurers.

Annoying when people are like that isn't it Sad

My bike was recently reversed into while parked up, when i went over to the person who had hit my bike, it turned out it was my nextdoor neighbour. Laughing

I had a luggage rack on the back at the time which went through his rear light, and done my damage to my bike what so ever, i'd left my bike in gear 1 as well which stopped the bike rolling off its stand.

Some people Rolling Eyes lol.

By the way, where about is sutton motorcycles, i seem to recognise the name of it for some reason?

Had same thing in car, guy went in the back of me gave me his details and then decided nothing happened, got nothing from it even the police didn't get anywhere.
I'd now not move a thing and phone the police no matter what unless there is at least two named witnesses.
No other guarantee other wise. We pay our taxes !!
It's just today's world it seems some people are just scum... ooops calm down eeek.

As for bikers I so love the fact that we stick together, if I see a bike by the side of the road or involved in anything I'd stop no matter how late for work I'd be.
Been in the same situation, had a dead battery and guy in car stopped and spend time to give me a jump and make sure I got on my way Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Very Happy
