Thanks to Luke, Bendy and Jay1723518365 I had the opportunity to try out some sports bikes for the first time.

Bendy insisted that I review them here. Unfortunately that is a bit like getting Wayne Rooney to critically evaluate the difference between two Operas. ie he might go and listen to them, he might even prefer one to the other, but he wouldn't have a clue why.

So basically this review is short... and based mainly on comfort! Laughing

My riding experience is mostly everyday commuting on an oldish CB500 (Yes I still have it!). Till now I'd never been on a bike with fairings.

Arrow Bendy's CBR600 This bike is an inline 4 and is yellow. This means it has four engines or something and I used to look quite cool on it when I too was a yellow affectionado.

Soon as I got on the bike, I was reminded that I never actually know what side of the bike the brakes/gears are on. If you just ask me I can't tell you. Cue me rolling backwards when I am pressing on the gears thinking it is the brakes. Hmmm...

Well we set off and the first thing that is wierd is the whole, turn the bars but the fairings don't move. ieeeee! Unnatural!! Well I get used to it after about 10 meters so that's that problem out of the way. Next thing I notice is that when I stop and put my feet down, the fairing gets in the way of my knees (or vce-versa) which is a bit annoying.

Anyway once we get going it is fine. The engine kinda goes broom, and uhhh it goes fast and stuff. The brakes just about flip me over the front of the bike - a bit more responsive than the CB500's.

Arrow Okay, that was fun, next is jay72601's Daytona. Unfortunately and memory of riding this bike has been erradiacted by the memory of the pain of sitting on it. I did not fit. I felt like I was perched to do a dive into a swimming pool. Then, because I was at that angle, I had to lift my head to see the road. Man, that ached my neck. Actually my neck is still a bit sore. Maybe an excuse to see the resident BCF physio? Every cloud... Thinking

P.S. The engine went kinda breeem. It is a triple, which means something to do with the number '3'.

Arrow Luke's SV1000 First off, apologies to Luke for saying this, but man, this bike really fitted me. I was sooo comfy on there. With my super inflexible hips, it's good to sit on a bike whn you don't have to sprad your knees far apart to sit on it.

The engine on this bike felt more natural to me and by far the most responsive. It is a V-Twin, which, in technical terms, means it totally rocks. It also drinks quite alot of fuel. The engine kinda went, GRRRRRR. I don't think I ever got out of 2nd gear. I barely got to try out the bike properly as there was loads of traffic about. We barely got a stretch of road to try the bikes out on, so we really got no chances to open them up. This was most frustrating on the SV as I really was enjoying riding it and wanted to push it a bit more. After riding it, I think it's the sort of bike I would like, were it not for the huge fuel consuption.

Well, I guess that's not the sort of bike review that you read in RIDE etc., but then I'm not that sort of rider.

Thanks again to Luke, Bendy and Jay118118 for the bike shots.

Maybe Jay282820 could come in now with a CBR125 review?

On the way home I started to appreciate why people talk about enjoying thrashing smaller bikes as I was really revving the tits off my CB on the way back and it felt quite good. Mr. Green

P.S. Was good to see everyone after two years! Very Happy Thumbs Up Hope to see some of you at the paintball.

Can really relate to your type of bike review Smile

Am sitting at work bored and it put a smile on my face.

If MCN wrote reviews like that I'd probably read them.

PS Loved the engine noises!! Laughing

I enjoyed reading that.

I actually found it better a magazine review, simply because it was from someone who does'nt know a lot about bikes and so gave us the real facts that we need to know, i.e. 'it was soo somfy and went GRRRR!' rather than 2 pages of gobbledy gook which the bike manufacturer may have slipped the magazine a few £££ to write.

I look forward to your next report Thumbs Up .
