Went and got some brake pads for my FX400R at about 3.00pm today and on the way back this stupid school run bitch in a people carrier packed to the brim with her offspring came straight out of a side road without stopping or looking trying to get the side road oppersite her across the 40mph limt road l was on (l was going along at 40-45mph), just managed to miss her by a few inches. Rolling Eyes

It's times like that what i really wish i was an off duty copper. I'd have had her in court for careless driving. Instead she drives off to kill someone another day. Mad

Bizzarely, the other day i was in a similar situation, some bloke in a... wait for it.. volvo estate (the old ones) pulled to a junction on lmy left, looked to his left, then brove right out in front of me.. luckly i'd seen the signs..
Arrow volvo
Arrow moveing a bit faster than somebody planing on stoping should be
Arrow wheels didn't stop turning at any point comeing upto the junction
Arrow volvo

How can you pull up to a junction and only look left???

I'd just fixed the horn wich wasn't working quite right too, and that made him stop, also being at the far right of my lane ment i could go arorund (which is why scootay riders dont get seen and get splattered rideing in the gutter on the left)

Maybe its the weather?

Ever have 2 cars nearly wipe you out both at once at the same junction?

One car goes to pull out left but slams on the brakes when they've half pulled out and another one crossing over your lane to pull in.

Just another day Neutral

It's better when they pull out, see you, stop then the idiot behind who's about to do exactly the same thing rams them up the arse.

I'd like to think in your case I'd follow the bitch home and give her a slap round the face while yelling "Do ya see me now bitch!"

After all she's a school run mum so she only lives walking distance from the school. (Alright, with the state of the education setup here she probably lives in another county!!)

I sound my horn at most junctions now, unless I have made positive eye contact with the drivers waiting there.

Since getting back on after being totalled, I'm terrified of it happening again.

i always HAVE to rev.......simply cause it sounds more aggressive & angry so they get the point better then when iv used my horn + in that quick madness you cant be feeling for the horn when its easier & more effective to dip clutch & REV! Twisted Evil as your hands are already in position Wink

Surely it's far quicker to move your thumb an inch and pip the horn, rather than disengage your clutch and rev the engine, thus loosing a measure of control and braking?

Drivers are conditioned to react to horns, the extra second or two it takes them to link your screaming revs to any dangerous actions they may be carrying out could well result in you smearing yourself across their bonnet.

You guys need to come and ride here, the stupidity of these utter w**kers is unbelievable.

I'm approaching a cross roads and my lights green to go straight on and red to the U turn or go left. The traffic coming the opposite direction also had two green lights for straight and one red for left and U turns.

So what happens? As i'm approaching, i was about 100 metres away i see an old nissan sunny do a U turn through a red light. I'm doing 70 kmh which is 10 kmh under the limit, cue high beam and horn sounding.

That's not half of it, i then see a toyota corrolla coming up to the junction and to the same U turn! By now i'm about 50 metres away from the lights. Slam of the rear brakes locking up the rear and grabbing a load of front anchor without loosing control.

Wait, no, still not done! I see a 2005 Toyota Prado (big arsed 4 x4) coming towards me on the other side with no sign of slowing down and takes the left turn, realising i'm there at the last minute and swerves to avoid me.

Fucked up drivers or dodgy lights?

I doubt it's the latter.

They aren't going to hear an engine growl with the windows closed and radio on anyway - horn, maybe, but you do notice it's not easy to determine where the sound of a horn came from.

If a cager ever pulls out on Nick whilst he is riding he simply goes after them and has a word with them, he simply points out that they nearly killed him and why did they do it, why do they not bother to look etc etc, usually makes them think next time I am sure Evil or Very Mad
I myself when riding always expect the worse at junctions, its all too common practice with cagers, being a cager too myself its made me a better driver I am sure, I certainly think and look a lot more.

When I see a car approaching a side road junction or waiting at a junction I always do a weave from side to side as this makes you much easier to see from the car drivers point of view.

Exactly the same thing happened to me on friday evening in liverpool crown street, but it was a twat in an enormous audi. I just got past the front of his bumper by the skin of my teeth, with my bike accelerating as fast as it could. I didnt regain my composure quickly enough to chase him. I wish I had followed him to the traffic lights, pulled alongside, and headbutted his window till the glass shattered.
