whats the story Confused

watched the film the other night, are they just a fictitious band made up for the film to take the piss out of similar metal bands of the time? or were they actually a band?

it took about 30 mins to work out that it was somewhat more than a piss take, its very cleverly done though and the more you think about it, the more hilarious it starts to be

Oh Lord! Laughing

Spinal Pap. Says it all really.

Supposedly the bass player is based upon the bass player from the band Saxon.

Yeah they are a pretend band.. but the actors play all the instruments and sing all themselves.

Based on the success of the film, they released "This is spinal tap" basically a soundtrack featuring the songs from the film..

Then based on the success of that, they recorded "break like the wind" an album of original piss takes Very Happy

They did tours and stuff, so they did do actual gigs.. Some say they were the best band that never existed..

I've got a spinal tap t-shirt.. love it, even more so when you find out that most of the film is improvised on the spot.

"Yeah but these go up to eleven!"

There's lots of little nods to different bands in it. Rock nerds, such as myself, can spot 'em.

classic film Goose, amazed youve never seen it before. For anyone who has ever worked, even on the fringes, in the music business it is known to be a work of absolute truth and is widely quoted even today Smile

Spinal Tap - Big Bottom

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin
That's what I said.
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read.
My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo.
I love to sink her with my pink torpedo.

Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about bum cakes,
My gal's got 'em.
Big bottom,
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?

I saw her on monday, twas my lucky bun day
You know what I mean.
I love her each weekday, each velvety cheekday
You know what I mean.
My love gun's loaded and she's in my sights
Big game's waiting there inside her tights

Big bottom
Big bottom
Talk about mud flaps
My gal's got 'em.
Big bottom
Drive me out of my mind.
How can I leave this behind?
