which tyres would you buy?

Hi,

A local dealer can get me a pair of any of these tyres for a bit under 150 quid (not much in it price wise). They're for a hornet 600, long life is a priority but I don't want to sacrifice grip, hence the choice of 'sports touring' tyres...

Anybody had personal experience with any of these? what would you go for? if 'other' please specify! any advice appreciated.

Can't comment on those but I've got Pirelli Diablo Stradas on my ZX6 and I've had no worries what so ever with them.

I'm using BT020R/BT014F at the moment for some serious mileage and they're good. Under recommendation of others, I'll be using Avon Azaros next to see how they compare.

Go for the conti's they are a superb tyre. Used them quite a few times. My last tyres were bridgestone 014's and I still preffered the conti.

By the way, think M&P have 207s for £120, but that's not including fitting, not sure about postage.

Save money if you get the wheels of your self.

I agree with dodsi, I've been using the Continental road attack's and I can't fault them. I've used them throughout the winter months and I have never doubted their gripping abilities and compared to other tyres I've used I get a decent amount of milage out of them.
I talked a friend of mine into giving them a go and he won't shut up about them. He's done about 300 miles on the set that have just been put on his bike (gsx-r 1100, bit old but still a beast in the right hands) and quite frankly is sounding like a Conti sales rep.
Really, give them a go. If you don't like them just don't use them again but at the very least give them ago. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Another vote for the Diablos here.
As for "pair deals" my local (big) tyre place does me Diablos or Diablo Corsas for £160 a pair, fitted to loose wheels.

I have used: -

Conti road attacks on 2 ZX6R's - Cannot fault them

Diablo's on 1 ZX6R - Good tyres, not as confidence inspiring as the conti's as the shape is differant.

BT020's On a bandit, good tyres but a little on the expensive side, and you can spin them up in the wet fairly easily.

BT014's on ZX6R and bandit, loads of grip but feels no more than the conti's the shape makes the bike feel heavier somehow and they scrub down to 1mm in no time at all (about 2 weeks).

yeah ive got a set of contis on my zxr400, i cant fault them at all. i can get full lean angle with them,(exhaust, faring and footpeg have been ground down a little).

they are also great in the wet, i was nailing it away from the lights to try to spin the rear up but they just hung on to the road like it was a hot sumers day.

ive also had a set of 020s they were a good touring tyre but thats all they were good for, they didnt give me the confidence becouse they like to slide when you need the grip.

d208s are good sports tyres, ive had a few and they stick very well, but i did find that if you are throtle happy they soon wear out.

think it's the continental i have on the rear and a dunlop on the front (like that when i got the bike)..

the continental i managed to get down to 1mm on the first sunny day i had on it as it was a new tyre, good grip, good feel from it and seemed good in the wet, too.. no moments with it. I've done over 2.5k and i need a new one on a zxr750. didn't last that long.

I'll be looking at something that'll last a bit longer this time.

think I'll go for the conti road attack's then, seem highly praised by those who've used them and I read something about them putting 12% more rubber on the road than other tyres which sounds useful

010s are by far the best tyre i've had on the hornet for everyday use.
The stock tyres were poo, and I loved the 012ss so much i had them twice, but they only last 2500miles at most. Current Super corsas are great for grip but again wont last long in day to day use.
My 010's lasted about 8k wich included a pile of motorway ridieng and a couple of trackdays. I still have the tyres sat in my garage incase i get a flat and need a replacement in a hurry!

You might have already bought them by now but if it helps I have a hornet 600 and run a BT10 on the front which is excellent and a bt14 on the rear also very good. Dont think it really counts as mixing tyres

Road attacks! I'm on my 2nd set on the monster, they're really good for me all year round, brilliant in the wet too. The dunlops what came with the monster were so sh*t in the wet!

010s are still available on e-bay. In fact i've just ordered a set for my 675.
i wouldnt touch 014s heard to many dodgy things, where the 010s i've only heard positive coments.
