Scaffold piercing's.

Interested if anyone has one of these and if so how it goes with wearing your helmet, is it uncomfortable or fine with day to day use.

I have a 50 mm scaffold bar. Had it over 2 years now never caused any probs. Just have to be carefull thge same as any other ear or facial pericing.

The cartilaginous parts of the ears are tricky places for piercings. For some, the piercing settles relatively quickly and doesn't react to the odd knock but on others the healing time can long, the wound can swell, lumps can grow in an attempted to heal the wound (but this is usually a symptom of a piercing that it poorly sized) and the site can flair up without warning after it appears to have healed.

That probably doesn't sound very useful and still counts on the individual looking after the piercing but if you're thinking about getting one, go for it, it's only a hole after all. As cheesy as it sounds, just listen to your body, it'll soon tell you if it's not happy with a piece of metal in it. (When I first started biking I had a simple piercing at the top of my ear, it seemed fine but didn't like the helmet thing so I took it out.)

The way I get around mine is to put on a neck scarf over my head and ears to stop it from being caught when i put my helmet on and take it off. Works well and not had any problems.

I havnt got a scaffold but have a few ear peicings. I got anti-tragus and top ear years before starting to ride and havnt been a problem. I got my conch peirced 6 month ago and got constant problems from taking helmet on and off and it swelled up and had to be taken out, im sure it was from all knocking.

I think if you get it done and dont let it heal before lot of helmet use uyou could have problems. Though everyone is different so could be fine Thumbs Up

I had my conch and sacffold done at the same time then put my lid on to ride home Very Happy

Think it depends on how your body reacts to having peircings done mines used to it now Very Happy

I'd say it depends more on the fit of your helmet than anything else.

I used to have earrings in but ever since I got the bike gave up on them because they kept getting caught. Want to get the cartiladge done but I know I wont be able to keep it.

I went to a place my sister uses fairly often and was told it would cost £30. This sound about right? The place is clean and the staff are very friendly etc.

Best piercings I ever had done were at a backstreet hairdressers that nobody even knew did piercings.

I had my lip, eyebrow and the top of my ear done perfectly, had my septum done at a reputable one in Liverpool and it was fucking shit

Yep a little bit over that weight with it rising, 5"7 tall. More interested now? Wink

My sister is 18 and just has the usual lip rings and earings/flesh tunnels. And a couple of tattoo's. Fall's into the "EMO" category/sterotype.
