Decided to go the extremely scenic route to work on the bike today. Somewhere up on Strines Moor the bike suddenly got a lot louder, so I was thinking "bugger, exhaust joint has opened up". Was only several miles later, stood in a queue, when I happened to glance down to see a patch of air where the left hand side can is supposed to be. ARSE! Embarassed Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad

Went home, grabbed my friend's bike and went to look for the can but seeing as I had about a five mile stretch of back road to examine, with tall grass verges, really I knew I had no chance.

So if any of you happen to be up in on Strines Moor and spot a forlorn looking Monster can by the side of the road, please let me know... Doh! Doh! Doh!

Funnily enough I'm asking myself the same question. Can only assume the nut/bolt on the mounting bracket had come loose without me noticing. I know it sounds far fetched, which is why I feel like a total tool. More to the point, I was surprised by how (relatively) quiet it was with no can attached whatsoever - which was why I didn't immediately think the bastard had fallen off... Sad

It's possible someone tried to steal the can, got as far as loosening the bolts and was then disturbed.

I wish I had that excuse. The bike's garaged and the alarm hadn't been triggered since I last used it.
