Anyone have any experience of these? I'm looking for something to wear into work that isn't going to make me sweat like a peado in a playground when all the kids have forgotten their gym kit and have to do PE in their vest and pants!

Obviously it isn't going to be as protective as a £1500 set of leathers, but it's definitely going to be cooler than my big jacket. I want something breathable and less 'plastic' - think this will fit the bill?

If your going to spend £90 on that, might be worth you having a look at the Joe rocket Air i think it is, basically a mesh jacket with armours, and all bits you can zip out to increase ventilation if needed. Looked quite good, saw it at my local infinity motorcycles, £99.99

i think riding with your jacket open would be cooler and give better protection.

You still have the arm, shoulder and back protection, but the wind blast on your chest will keep you cool.

maybe put those sealed ice bottle things they use in coolboxes in your pockets

or drape some mr freezes over the back of your neck Smile

thing is with jackets the armour doesn't stay put anyway with it well zipped up unless you buy a really small size and squeeze into it , with your jacket open it'll probably just peel off you rather than roll with you as you fall,

HG do do a £60 mesh suit armoured fully but held together with so so mesh , so that you can wear a thin jacket ontop open , so that if you do spill the armour stays in place.

If the "elastic and breathable material" offers abrasion resistance then I reckon it could be a good buy for the summer months...

I agree , other riders , cept couriers who ride in full gear too , laugh at me for taking a minute or two to put on road rash prevention gear , and slip on their helmets jump on and ride off, I just hope they don't have to find out the hard way why they should wear their gear all the time as said sweat wipes and washes off road rash doesn't

I was looking at the HG jacket, but they didn't have my size in the shop. Might get one of these instead :- https://www.rivetts.co.uk/product.asp?ProductID=PJF035

My biggest problem with my Bering jacket is actually the arms. The main body of the jacket has a mesh lining, but the arms are the usual sweaty lining. I took my jacket off in Waitrose on the way home, and when I put it back on after 10 minutes it felt like I was wearing a smelly black swamp.

I'm going to go and look at the shirt/jacket thing on Saturday, and if I like the look of it, it's a definite buy! Coupled with some Hood or Draggin' jeans, I should be able to stay fairly cool for the next couple of months.

those mesh things are for motorcross (yes i know some ppl use them on the road but they are daft)

you dont want armour, you want abrasion resistance on any part of you that is gonna slide along the road

those mesh things protect you against impacts not sliding along tarmac

perforated leather is good by the way as it lets loads of air through

get something off ebay and make your own perforations if necessary, but i got something pre-perforated

Exactly my line of thinking. I want to be concentrating on Mr Abdul and Mr Umbongo doing their best to kill me in their executive minicabs, not the torrents of sweat marring my Adonis-like frame!
