Check your tyre pressures and accept that this is one of the reasons I tell people to do their DAS instead of spending time on a 125. |

My mate said i can have a go of his Monster sometime (i.e. when i have had more experience/practice) so i can experience speed with none of the 'bouncing' ... i cannot afford my DAS so i will persevere.
The tyre pressure is rated as per the Haynes manual for my bike but being an older model the suspension probably is a little stiff (read old)
Maybe i just need to grow bigger balls |

Never thought of that, just asked him and he will take it out. Fortunately we work together and we have a rather nice stretch of straight road leading out from work.

When I first did my cbt (about 15 years ago) I can remember bricking it, and that was only at 30mph
I never even so much as sat on a bike again until I did my cbt for the second time about 3½ weeks ago. Now I'm blasting along at the (not quite) eye watering speed of about 50mph on my 125
Maybe it was nerves, or maybe I wasn't quite ready for a motorbike. Either way I'm older (35) now and it doesn't bother me.
Keep riding, then in 3 or 4 weeks time re-read this post and see if you feel the same way. Bet you don't |

When I first got out on the road with my 125 about 3 weeks ago, 30Mph felt uncomfortably fast. 40Mph seemed insanely fast, and 55 on the NSL roads made me sweat! In the first days, every now and then I'd pull into a car park or side road, get off the bike, peel the helmet off and shout "*holy f@*@ing cow!!!* with the rush I was getting out of it (kinda wish those days would come back now!) .
Three weeks later, I'm totally de-sensitised (for better or worse) to 30Mph and 40Mph, and accelerate to them without thinking about it. On NSL roads, the only limit to my speeds now is the acceleration of the bike itself, and my own limited cornering ability.
Get out practising regularly and give it a couple of weeks - things will get much better. Make sure you got your visor down to reduce wind noise, try and relax so you're not all tensed up on the bike, and make sure you keep your distance from traffic in front, so you know you've got space to slow down if anything develops up front.

Cheers folks.
I am quite happy up to 50 so i am just going to bite the bullet and hit the dual carriageway and build up a little at a time.
Didn't ride in today as severe weather warnings had been issued..nice and sunny up here in Newcastle...damm! |
