PMSL, i've had enough, i've never been able to do it properly and it's pissing me off.

only time i can get it to come up is if i sit in 1st drop the throttle and bang it back on, but it doesn't come up high it just shoots forward and the front wheel comes off the floor about a foot Sad even when i've got the throttle pinned back.

i've tried "clutching it" but I can't seem to get the fingering right on the left bar Sad I like my clutch set halfway not biting right at the beginning, so trying to clutch it with 2 fingers is hard. if i try it with 4 fingers and hang onto the bar with my thumb it feels unsafe as im only hanging on with 1 finger.

i've even taken the bike to have a smaller front sprocket fitter on the front which is equal to 3 on the back.

once it was fitted it didnt make the bike seem any different at all, i don't geddit Sad

i'll admit I can't wheelie for shit Sad and hope some other members feel like this too lol

HELP

PS it's a GSXR 600 SRAD

Not really, it's got more horsepower than my bike, and mine is heavier, yet mine can power wheelie well, easily. Confused

have you watched this from the Superbike people?

https://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6656191590638402466&q=how+to+wheelie

it's a very good video, but I can't even get past the first stage, my bike doesn't rise up with the power

I reckon they should wheelie with that gearing if you get it right.

Start off at about 2k below the red line, dip the throttle and pull it open as hard as possible - we are talking 'snapping' it open, not just turning it.*

*Disclaimer - don't start doing this, start slower, then increase how fast you turn the throttle.

Personally I'd reccomend learning to clutch up, wish I had.
Going along at half revs, clutch in, rev about 1k rpm higher, then dump the clutch. Holding it with one or two fingers, pull your figers up rather than out, so the clutch springs out.
The bike should maybe lurch forward a little.
Now Make it 2k rpm higher and repeat.
Carry on upping the revs until something interesting happens.

One thing worsth considering is hand position.
On a closed throttle, place your hand so that it's almost vertical. This way when you have the throttle far open your hand will be in a natural position.

did your downgearing make ANY difference in acceleration?

when they put my smaller front sprocket on i thought it would transform the bike, but it's exactly the same

yea mine did.....its alot pokier in 1st & abit more through the rest of gears but nothing MAJOR! i was expecting the throttle to just be touched & it would flip up Very Happy BUT NO Crying or Very sad
& its like iv lost 6th gear in a way cause i can be in 6th but yet it feels like i should EASILY have 1 or 2 clicks more to go so when im in 6th its VERY RAW sounding(cause so high up revs)

dunno how far you are from me but if i saw you 1day you could try it for yourself Thumbs Up

I've just recently sold my SRAD 600, i put a -1 tooth on the front and it was more than capable of lifting the front wheel on the power.
Wind it up to about 8K in 1st, momentarily close the throttle then wang it right open again. I always cover the back brake just in case.
I'm no wheelie expert (i tried clutching it up for a while but had a few too many wonky landings, so i decided to call it a day), so if i can do it on the same bike, you can as well!
I wish i could say i was one of those blokes who are able to perform monter wheelies at will, but frankly i haven't got the bollocks for it - i have enough trouble riding on 2 wheels, let alone 1!!
Very Happy

as rookie wrote.

on a thundercat if at about 8 thousand revs you pin back the throttle (you dont have to drop the revs then snap it back) the front slowly lofts about a foot in the air (cheers rookie for the info).

would have thought it would be much easier to do that on a gixer 6.

clutch it. try it in 2nd geaar first. two fingers on the clutch. will feel weird to start with, but you get used to it. take it slow.

oh, the clutch position shouldnt mean much as you are dropping it rather than feeding it out.

good luck

A bike maybe upgeared for better fuel economy, but in a standard state of tune, up-gearing will probably give you a slower vMax.

I did a wheely school day at Long marston air field this time last year

cost me £135 as part of a group, we we're taught off the power, which was fine, but crap for bikes with next to no power.
Google how to clutch wheelie and read lots of different accounts on 'how to' you'll get the idea.

if I can get the front wheel off the ground with the 33bhp gpz500s you can do it with the 600 srad,

Sychosis did the day with me and he got his 600 srad up no probs.. before it was 'suicycled' into.
