Anybody who tells you it doesn't hurt has got to be lying. I'd buy a freezer full of ice lollies prior to getting it done, if I were you. ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

My mate Sara had it done a few years back
She said the pain wasn't that bad, hurt of course, but nothing she couldn't handle
The worst bit was having liquids only for a few weeks afterwards
She makes me feel sick when she flicks her stud around and stuff in her mouth ..makes an icky sound *shudder*
Her speech is also impaired SLIGHTLY
I defo wouldn't have it done, but then I am not you ____________________ Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow" |

A friend of mine had her toungue pierced recently. She claimed the pain wasn't too bad, just had a problem with the swelling making her dribble a lot, having to drink soup for a few days, and not being able to speak properly.... (probably not a bad thing in her case )
Took nearly a week to get the swelling down, and the speech back to somewhere near normal, but she says she's glad she had it done ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Wotcha, as you'll have noticed from my myspace thing I got it done.
Clicky here for the write up.
Got laughed at and many hugs the week after I had it done cos I sounded like such a plank and also that first week you get a yellow tongue cos the initial bar that allows for swelling means you can't create a vacuum when you eat so you have to get a designated toothbrush specifically for scraping it off.
Sorry if anyone's already said that, only skimmed the posts.

I've got mine pierced, it was only a couple of months ago.
The pain wasnt too bad, apparently very little compared to other piercings.
Personally, my tongue was fine for the first day, the morning after it had swollen, but the extra length in the bar accommodated this. It was swollen for quite a while, but ice/ice cream, helped control it.
The worst was when, in the night, about a week after the piercing it decided to bleed while i was asleep. I woke with all of my short sleeve covered in blood and a large patch of blood on my pillow. My mum got really worried and sent me to the docs. i was put onto antibiotics, but kept the piercing in. I guess that it took about a month to fully heal, and the lump around the hole to go, its now fine, and fun to play with!
I did it because i wanted to. Others, yes, did laugh as apparently its not a 'boy thing'. But i did it for myself.
A few points:
>Its not visable on myself when talking, unless messing with it.
>It hurts when biting the ball (usually when eating)
>I found salty water, worked better than alcohol free mouthwash
>Speaking and pronouncing some words can be differcult with the swelling

It was my least painful piercing to date.
Eating and talking is uncomfortable for a bit after but you will soon adapt!
Go for it, you won't regret it! |
