I've never ridden anything with gears before, so I'm going to have a lesson at the weekend. But my friend's brother might show me tonight although I'm starting to think all he wants is to get his leg over (me and the bike, lol). Maybe if I have enough to drink later!

why would you need 7 gears? (It is a 125 right?) my 6th is totally useless, so i imagine a 7th would be just as useless?

your 6th is useless? Shocked mine gets used quite alot even before i had it downgeared

what you do 50-60odd all the time?

& yeah BECAUSE its a 125 it would use it even more cause it goes through the rev range alot quicker then a biger bike

generally it is 60, will go up to 70, 75 down certain stretches of the route i normally take, but i ahve to slow up a lot for towns a lot.

and i find that my revs get up to about 9k and will settle there in 5th gear, no more power left, so when i go up to 6th i just loose power.

i think that pic is from the internet for some reason but dont ask me y maybe coz off the quality off the pic/bike but good luck with your new bike.
lol i use my 6th gear quite often, i think the reason y its got 7 gears coz the gears r smaller so it gives it that better acceleration but u still got a 7th gear for a good top speed

You can have exactly the same final drive ratio and have a different amount of gears. More gears mean you can keep the bike in a narrow powerband (particularly important on a 2 stroke) much more easily just because your 6th is totally useless doesnt mean another bikes is. Also if you feel you dont use 6th, downgear it you clart. Wink

She's a nurse with a mito. I'll pm you my number ! Mr. Green

Look after it, if you ever need parts for it use rob at mito mondo, he's better than dealers and importers. Things like bearings and fork seals go for pennies on egay, and if you ever need any major components, use a breaker's yard.

Also, it will sound like a tractor eventually, all cagivas do so don't be worried.

Lastly with the lecturing, register yourself on 125ccsportsbikes.com, it's a decent forum and you can find pretty much any information you need for your bike.

Is it restricted? Razz

Jack
