Hi, after some hints on my sons KE100 field bike. Until recently excellent starter and ran well.. Suddenly started wetting plug on starting, spitting and farting etc. Cleaning and drying plug would eventually get it going and once warm ran as well as ever. A new spark plug temporarily seemed to fix this but now back to as before. The other issue is it is causing spark interference to neighbours TV so complaints !! Condensor I say to him and change it along with new points - Still just as bad. Have just also put on a new coil and suppressed spark plug cap but still no improvement. When the plug is dry there seems to be an OK spark (but nothing fantastic) and its still an absolute git to start - wetting plug and causing the RF interference when (if) you get it going. Any hints on where to look next greatly appreciated.
Thanks Richard

take off the carb cover and there should be a little disk that sorts the mixture out.. this should have two dots on that should be aligned.. had the same problem with my old ke and this fixed it Smile

I immediately thought 'condenser' when reading the post but you've replaced it. Thinking

Seems like the only thing you haven't replaced in the ignition system is the HT lead.

I presume the frame earth under the coil is clean and rust free?

Points and plug gapped properly?

Tried more than one new plug in? Nothing saying the new one is working properly, especially if it is an NGK. Myself and others have had problems with NGK plugs recently, especially in older 2-strokes. See if you can get a nippon denso equivalent.

Other thing to check is if the air filter if that has been messed with recently - it goes into it's housing at right angles to the way that you think it does. There even is/was a little warning label on the inside of the airbox cover lid.

That, plus try a hotter plug.

Thanks for the thoughts guys..

The HT lead was changed with the coil so I have got a hotter plug on order to replace the existing NGK one. Will check the points gap again, filter and carb disk and let you know if theres any improvement..

Cheers, Richard

Replaced the plug with an iridium one and that has pretty much cured it. Still doesn't seem a very strong spark so perhaps there is still a bad connection on the LV side. Still completely different bike so that's put a smile back on my sons face..

Thanks for the help - Richard
