One that may feel to you as though it's a personal attack. Some of you will think it's stupid to post on here but imo, I think this is the best place as you're the audience its intended for.

It needs a good clean up though and I want you to tell me if it's too abusive, if it generalises, if it is colloquial, and whether it made you think or not.

With an article of this nature and the variety of views expressed by the different personality types, it'll help a lot.

It's quite intensive though. Perhaps too much? Is it condescending? Tell me what you think.

Thanks.

:: deep breath :: aaaaaand... clicky.

Not so much a blog as a rant, Wink but an interesting read.

Nothing that's really new to me, but pretty well presented and might make some think.

Mark does have a point, most people don't take the time to read blogs unless it's someone they know well - in which case they are probably aware of your views already.

Still, you've obviously put some time into it, and it reads like it's something pretty important to you, so keep it up!

My only question would be "What do you hope to achieve?" - is it to make (male) readers think about the points, get it off your chest, or something else?

The way that you seem to mention men makes it look like a after thought
and what your really doing is shouting for women against men, the fact that you mention men now and then looks like your trying to do it to make it look like your also thinking about men when infact your really trying to put men down.

Make it one way or another but dont try to make it look like your considering both sides when infact your not.

does this make any sense to you? its hard to put into words how it reads really.

I'd go along with Daz there - it's obvious where your sympathies lie, and you have some powerful arguments that are undermined by your token mentions of a couple of male issues.

A lot of the perceived injustices(opinions) you speak of, have been developed by our societies for practical reasons.

Although I am tempted to address each point and say why i disagree, that would be too long.

Men and women are not mentally the same. Men do not get pmt.

men dont do housework because they dont mind living in a messy house

Dont think its street harassment if a guy compliments you in a way you think is inappropriate. Its still a compliment.

women will never be equal in the workplace unless men get just as much paternity leave as women get maternity leave, and both are forced to take it. Even then, in general women arent as career oriented and arent as ambitious as men to earn top salaries. If they dont individually fight to get a top job they wont get one.

Id quite like it if a female builder wolf whistled me. If I fancied her, I might even ask for her number.

Why on earth do women object to that kind of attention ?

because men and women have different mentalities, be it that these mentalities are brought about by society or its just how we are made.

interesting blog however, some good points, but i didnt see a single point that i have come accross in my life this far, so im afraid i just dont agree,

I wasn't surprised to read the same old, boring, predictable "women give birth" argument.

Where do you work, MementoMori? If you're not a miner or a car mechanic or doing some sort of other 'man' job I hope you've got a damned good excuse! When you start a job, can you guarantee the company that you're not going to go and have babies for a year? Men are paid more because they're not going to do this. Oh yeah, what age do you plan to retire?

Quote:
Still nothing like pushing an 8lb baby through a cervix the width of a pencil end.

WHAT?!

How many pencil thin babies do you see? Clearly you've never had sex, either. Either that or your boyfriends were at the back of the queue in the penis department.

I have an elastic band here that's 5cm in diameter, yet I can easily get a 10cm ball through it. PM me if you can't understand how.

Whinge whinge moan moan, would add some more points, but most of em have already been covered, especially the whole maternity leave issue regarding pay etc.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I must stress that half the points on there are my own opinons as stated at the top of that bit.

Are you all largely disagreeing with the FACTS bit or my opinions?

Also Carvell, you seem very angry in your post. You make sweeping statements. You ask me if I've ever had children. I ask you the same question as you seem to know quite a lot about this. Could you further your argument and tell me why you are so upset by my blog?

Thanks.

Nah - feminist rantings and ravings like that just annoy me, not sure why, just really get to me. You'd be the first one to complain if you broke down with your bike on the motorway and you weren't assigned a "priority callout" because you're a lone woman, yet when you're treated differently anywhere else you'll kick off.

You hardly presented a balanced argument.

Well, this is what I'm interested in. I wanna know why 'feminist rantings' annoy men and arouse defense when the movement seeks to achieve equality for all people.

You said, "You'd be the first one to complain if you broke down with your bike on the motorway and you weren't assigned a "priority callout" because you're a lone woman, yet when you're treated differently anywhere else you'll kick off."

I wouldn't. I don't see myself as a female first, I see myself as an individual and I know that the likelihood of me getting attacked isn't that high. The risk's there for men and women.

I can understand why you think a feminist viewpoint wouldn't be balanced but in the end, isn't that the point?

I put my hands up to the mistake I made in the last post.

However, you claim that I've either not had sex or my b/f has a small penis.

Yet you seem to believe all women have very large vaginas (at least half the size of a baby with reference to your band and ball argument) in which case you've never had sex or been with some very rare people.

Having spoken to you several times, I believe you, but there are plenty of women out there who don't subscribe to that school of thought, and who like the idea of equal pay and equal rights, but don't see anything unusual about the bloke paying for the meal or holding the door open. 'Women and Children first' is not something that went down with the Titanic.

My attitude to strident feminism (and I'm not saying that your blog is such) is the same as my attitude to positive racial discrimination - 2 wrongs don't make a right, and I find it as annoying and odious as male chauvanism.

I tend to assess everyone, male or female, on an individual basis, as I find the differences between thick dickheads and smart types are far greater than those between male and female. (aside from the obvious hole and willy thing)

Thanks Mister James, I see where you're coming from. Perhaps that's my problem as some men might believe I'm one of the women who take adavantage of the past and play it to their advantage.

I never considered I might be coming across like that so thanks.

In order to develop a balanced view, could you lads do me a favour then and tell me in what ways you think men are discriminated against in favour of women? Try and keep them fact-based!

Thanks.

Just a little thing, and not really applicable, but at my place of work, men are discriminated against.

Most of our little cherubs are basically free-range scrotes, keys to their rooms, not locked down etc, but the nasty ones are kept in Secure or the Segregation cells.

Only male officers work these areas, with the nastiest and most dangerous scrotes in them. The argument goes that some of them are sex offenders and thus women shouldn't be exposed to them. However, even more of them are violent, or hate whites/blacks/asians, so the men are more likely to have someone take a pop at them than females are to get some sexual harrassment.

Female officers are paid exactly the same as men, and there are no unpleasant duties that only they undertake. Basically, I believe it's the misguided chivalry that I referred to in my earlier post overriding our supposedly equal society.

When it comes down to the crunch, the female officers effectively hide behind their gender, and let us carry the can. That the company enshrines it in policy is even worse.

As I said, not applicable to 99% of the population, or even me, (as a senior, I don't do menial jobs like that Wink ) but it's something that is tangible and discriminatory.

I think that 10cm (The size of a fully dilated cervix when the baby is pushed out) is slightly larger than a pencil head?

Or have I been going to the wrong stationary shops?

Lol no I meant that it starts off as around that pensil size but dilates (obviously) to get the baby out, and the process is fairly painful because it's quite a tight fight going from little hole to baby sized one.

Wouldn't this make sex excruciating seen as you are basically (In most cases) forcing a sausage sized object into a pencil sized hole?

In that case, why do the girls allow this gross act of misconduct to be performed upon their person for fun?

I am fully aware that women go pain but I think calling it a pencil sized hole is exaggerating abit. Confused

Oh and for the record, you lasses won't ever know how painful it is to be kicked in the nads so hard you want to die so you can't comment anyway. Razz

Just a small example that has popped up over the last 2 weeks.

Women Tennis players are campaigning to have the same prize money as the men at Wimbledon ok fair enough, but they dont expect to play the same amount of time as the men and dont expect to play the same amount of matches as the men.

Is that a case of women expecting to be treated like the men or just a case of wanting their cake and eating it?

Yeah Daz, I agree with you on this one, though I didn't know they were definately saying "we want the same amount of money but we're only gonna play 3 sets."

If the women were to play the full 5 then I'd agree, and since I know nothing much about it, I assumed that they wanted to play the full 5 as to claim the same amount of money for less work is rediculous whatever gender you are.
