Well the story starts on the last day of my exams which was Chemistry.

Suddenly sods law decides to rear it's ugly face and I slept in for the exam. It started at 9:00am, I slept in until 9:30am and finally arrived at 10:00am.

I was told that since I arrived later than half an hour that I would not be allowed to enter the exam hall. But, after the examinations officer looked over the rules manual very carefully she thought they might be hope. So, the conditions were that I could enter and begin the exam despite it being half an hour from the end and get as far as I can and then they would rule a line throughout the paper at that point. I would be allowed to do both of the papers on that day with the initial required time allowed although, it would be up to the discretion of the exam board if they would be willing to except my paper.

I just got an email from my senior head of year stating that she had news that they have not accepted it. Crying or Very sad I am truly fucked now. I needed a B in Chemistry to get into university to do Pharmacy.

But, considering I got 95% overall for my AS levels I still have a D overall for A2 Chemistry which is a bit of a consolation. But, not much as it mean fuck all to my entry requirements.

I am royally screwed. This probabl;y means I will have to do a foundation course at university to get in Pharmacy. Which, means I will be 21 when I start the foundation and eventually leave university if I get to fo pharmacy when I am 25 years old.

Crying or Very sad Sad Crying or Very sad Sad Crying or Very sad Sad Crying or Very sad

Although the bad news this does not deter me. I will make something of my life if it kills me. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Bad luck, you lazy sod. Wink Sad

Your best plan of action is probably not to do a foundation course - you probably won't get on one at this stage anyway - but to retake that exam specifically, next year in January. Don't redo the course, just hold onto your notes and put a lot of work in. Then you can get your grade (you'll have 3 opportunities to retake over the year) and apply for university again next year. In the meantime, use this to your advantage and get some course-related experience in, if possible.

check with ur uni, they may well still accept u on your predicted grades.
probably worth resitting the exam tho to get a decent grade as it may be important after uni for getting a job

Thats odd, I know of somebody who arrived late (Albeit because someone had f*cked up their exam slip), and they where taken into a seperate room, and made to do the exam under watch of an Invigilator..

Like colin said: I may get into contact with the university and have a hopeful word and do a bit of begging.

It is not like I am not capable of the demands of a degree. Only last year when I was doing my AS levels I was helping a friend in doing her Masters and even gave a lot of help with a certain paper that got submitted and also went on to be part of an extensive research paper done by one of the professors at the university she was at.

I will have to some how convince them that I am a really hard worker and will not disappoint.

Sounds like your head of year was trying to make an example of you. As other's have said, there is still a large chance that you could get into your uni of choice. If they don't fill the course capacity, places will be offered through clearing, where (I think I'm correct here) the academic requirements are lowered. Failing that, you still may be able to haggle a bit.

Or you could just repeat your last year of A'Levels and start your Pharmacy degree when you're 19. Thumbs Up

Explain the situation to the Uni, if you have done good work , your teachers will vouch for that.

That can mean more than a letter on a piece of paper.

Uni's want people willing to work.
The grades are just to seperate out the utter chaff.

If I had something as important to me as that, that required me to absofuckinglutely be there no matter what, I'd have a room full of alarm clocks. Out of reach of the bed. With a BT wakeup call. And a mate to ring me repeatedly. And I'd sleep in my clothes.

I guess it couldn't have been that important, then.

Did you actually tell them that you'd slept in or that you'd had to perform CPR on your elderly neighbour after rescueing her and her fluffy kitten from a house fire?

Did they invent those before sarchasm?

It didn't go off. It is just luck I did wake up eventually and realise the clock hadn't gone off yet but it was really sunny.

Indeed, plenty of people repeat their A levels, or take a year off, or repeat a year of uni etc.

Hardly the end of your life, as they say Wink.

i do feel sorry for you, but as some have mentioned, you want to do a demanding course in pharmacy over a number of years at university...

yet you cant plan ahead enough to get yourself out of bed for an A level exam?

not taking the piss here, but you need to give yourself a kick up the arse perhaps

if i've got anything important to do the following day, my body automatically doesnt allow me to sleep very well at all, and i tend to wake up at hourly intervals and check the clock, and i never rely on just a single alarm clock, thats within reach of the bed, thats just asking for something to go wrong!

Dude, i buggered my A-levels up.

I was predicted 3A's and a C. I got B,D,U,U.

My university still took me on my predicted grades. No foundation nothing. I went to Exeter, so not a shit uni either.
My dad was having open heart surgery during my exam period and i used that as an excuse. Although in fairness i dont believe it distracted me that much.

If you do well on your other exams, you will get in mate. Dont worry. If nothing else, you will get in through clearance.
Plus you will infact get an extra year at uni if you have to do foundation. It may sound rubbish now, but its actually brilliant, you will have a great time!

I was going to do another degree just to remain at uni, but the sodding top up fee's made it too expensive.

Chin up mate,

Kaben Thumbs Up
