Child Restrictions...

Yesterday whilst listening to the radio news, the newsreader said that the goverment is thinking about bring out new rules which states that familys would be restricted to having two children only She then proceded to say that one of the reasons behind this was that the UK is a small Island with a population 60million and rising slowly, which is fair enough, but could this problem be sorted with enforcing strict migration rules, thus reducing the number off illegal people here and having children, or is it due to all the teenage pregnancy and little miss chavette having 6 kids whilst claiming benifits?

What does everyone else think to the possible proposal of this restriction?

I think it should be a worldwide ruling that only one child per couple be allowed, at least until we get the population down to about 1 billion again.

No-one will sign up for it though, but it doesn't matter. Nature will do it for us anyway.

England is one of the most heavily populated countries around. Can't say I disagree with getting the population down a fair bit (halve it should do) over a few decades.

the small island debate again,

lets see Japan is a smallish island full of hills and it also grows all its own rice 128 million people live there ok in tiny houses, that said all their infrastructure works , and people compensate with tiny houses and compact everything.

Hong Kong a small island with New territories still pretty small has 7 million people if you include illegals about 10 million, space is compensated by with high rise properly managed highrise rather than the decaying symbols of high rise we had in the UK in the 70s and 80s, thing is the infrastructure works there too , and they manage it with a 16% flat rate tax for everybody.


The problem is that its not the spaceits the resources people use and consume, and the infrastructure required to support this

thing is we have a government that is not willing to invest in any infrastructure at all , (just look at the state of the roads way too many pot holes). The government just tinkers around the edges to pretend more infrastructure is being built ,ie lower speed limits so more cars can be crammed onto the same road space without actually having to build more roads , or the way that they are closing 3 local hospitals (they pretend they are not) to build one smaller one.

My point was other places are much more crowded , and seem to cope ok, maybe its the work or die attitude in places like HK or Japan , where you can be utterly destitute and still not qualify for any sort of benefits.


while at the same time the UK tipping point keeps going up and up by tipping point I mean that where people are better off on the dole than they are working with high marginal rates of tax for people who sit up and think I'm going to work.

Maybe we need a system like the US where you can only be on the dole for a limited time once that is over no dole for you ever.

Not sure on the benifits thing. There are arguments both ways, but tend to agree with you.

As to population density and survival, that doesn't worry me so much. Living in a horribly overcrowded place (such as London or HK) does. Keep cramming people on top of each other and watch tempers shorten.

Well, I suggest we make a start on getting rid of the 500,000 illegals that the Government admits we have.

An even better way of doing it would be for the benefit's paid for the first child only. Stopping the drain on the country and forcing people off there arses and into work hence no need for cheap immigrant labour and also showing their children that they do have to go out and get a job and therefore learning some self respect instead of the generation of little shit's we have now.

My rather extreme ideal would be a country where noone is able to have children (eg madatory contraceptives) until they pass an exam to prove they are capable of bringing up a child and supporting the little brat-thing into adulthood.

I always wonder why people who wish to adopt/foster children have to go through such rigerous screening when people who are far less capable of bringing up a sprog can just churn them out and keep on claiming the benefits.
