MySQL will stop making binary updates to MySQL 3.23 and 4.0 publically available as of next month. If you want an update thereafter, it'll need you to pay for a subscription to MySQL Network. They are considering the roadmap for 4.1.x but it looks like that will go the same way early next year.

I say yum update MySQL, why do i need a binary form MySQL ??

Besides I use PostgreSQL, a true SQL compliant, BSD licenced SQL server

MySQL 5 is doing fine for the apps I develop for my workplace... Plus, who needs updates on an internal network.
