Guys do you know what the examiners stance is on clutchless up / downshifting?

Would you get a mark for it or anything?

Its become quite a habit of mine and i was wondering when i take my test whether it would count against me?

Cheers

just use the clutch for the test, its not gonna do you any harm, and decreases your chance for failing.

I'm not sure he'd be able to tell you weren't using the clutch. Just as you're going to clutchless shift, hover your hand over the clutch lever - so he won't be able to tell Wink

Better make sure you're smooth at it though.

I remember i did it a few times when i did my CBT, not because i wanted to just going to fast or moving me foot to much. downshifts its a good idea to use the clutch anyway without a quickshift kit or a slipper clutch then the bike will get upset. Clutchless upshifts are fine as long as you do them ok, they won't damage the bike. But for the test it depends dont try and outsmart him just use the clutch, he might fail you for not showing proper machine control or something.

Defonately second this comment - Its been known that you shift down with no clutch and you can sometimes lock up the rear end, if you get away without that happening then it will proberly give you a judder and completely feel like you should not have done it!!

Changing up a gear is no problems as its going with the flow of the engine so should pose no problem!! Thumbs Up

Perfectly fine to do it on the upshifts.

A lot of people say it's not too good for the box on the way back down though.

I only clutchless upshift, and only when I'm really going for it Wink
