Design/Printing question

If you had to produce some tickets for an event, what application would you produce the tickets on? For printing them out, I mean, in large quantities.

I can make up what I want on them easily enough, but wondered whether there was a wizard or something like that that I've missed on Word or something else.

I have Quark Express, which I may use, but if there's an quicker way to formate a page full of the same thing, that would be better.

Anyone have any ideas?

If it's something half decent, I probably wouldn't want to be using a wizard.

If it isn't, then it should be quick to do anyway.
I tend to use Corel Draw, but Quark should be fine.

What do you mean 'page pull'?

I'd knock up a A4 page worth in Illustrator, print one and photocopy the rest.

Do they need serial numbers or anything on them?

Ah, so copying and pasting the same thing.

I know Corel Draw has stuff to do that automatically.
Alternativly the Quark printer stuff or the printer drivers may have settings so you can print a single thing multiple times on one page.

At work I have been known to save paper/hassle by printing 5x5 (25 in total) pages of A5 onto one side of A4.

Less hassle to look through and no one else is going to nab it.
Short sightedness has it's (not very great) advantages .

Should be able to get macros to do it for you.

CraigieB - editing a bitmap (which I believe photoshop uses) - requires a fair bit of hassle, while editing text in a vector based program would be a case of just typing the extra bit in.

For quite a few years now you have been able to add bitmaps to vector based programs .

I know most bitmap programs use layers and objects, but it's still usually a load more hassle in my experience.

Not sure how it would work in Quark, I'm afraid.

Know that it can be done in the latest version of Corel.

Does quark have mail-merge options? This could be a quick/easy bodge to do it.

Illustrator ALL the way...do a full colour page as suggested before and bobs your uncle. If you dont have Illustrator then use photoshop, Quark is better for layout, and dropping images previously designed in Photoshop or Illustrator. But why do this when you can use just the one application.
