Having done me CBT yesterday on a Y reg 4t (sr125) the RS125 I'm buying is going into the garage for repairs/MOT on tuesday.

Now, I'm quite worried about getting the damn thing home (that is if I manage to sort out documentation/tax/insurance on time)

So the only riding experience I have is on a watered down untempremental 4t, and I'm going to be getting on a big fast moody bike. I quite fancy getting home ALIVE!

anyone got any tips for what I should expect, getting on one for the first time?

Cheers

Calm down mate, it's an RS125, not an R1 Laughing

Take it easy, ride the same as you have done on any other bike and you'll have no problems.

Only real difference is that this bike revs higher, handles better and the brakes will be a lot sharper. You'll probably be aching in your wrists and back for a while until you get used to the riding position.

Ride safe Karma

I'm a natural born worrier. Last night in bed I had this constant half awake/half asleep half-dream of riding and the bike tilting to a sickening level, sort of half dropping half staying upright....bleh!

What sort of revs do I wanna look at when taking off in 1st...and where is this mysteriousl "power band"?

How fast do you wanna take off? Laughing

You'll feel the powerband - anything over 7k rpm to the redline Thumbs Up

lol i was in exactly the same position as you a few weeks ago mate! important thing is dont worry, you'll be fine Very Happy
to pull away rev to about 5k, then let out the clutch slowly.
powerband starts at about 7k, and if its derestricted it'll really be flying by 11k, but on my first ride i changed at about 7k.
the brakes are very good, especially the front one so be a bit carefull, and as already said, you will more than likely have a few aches after the first ride until you get used to it.
dont stress though, the rs125 is a great bike, you will enjoy it Thumbs Up

I'd check that the brakes work then you'll be fine Thumbs Up

Also make sure you hang on tight if your wanting to go fast, but as its your first good bike i would stay at lower speeds untill your ready to blast into the red

Also wear protection (no pun intended Laughing ) even if its hot!

Just keep the revs down until you are used to the bike. It isnt at all fast before 7000/8000 rpm anyway. The bike will not tilt unless you want it to, and it wont fall over while you are moving. It is designed to be on its side going around corners ! ! ! Very Happy Very stable bike Thumbs Up
