Noisy AC adaptor

After a few sparks due to some exposed wires, my AC adaptor for my laptop stopped working. I found a new one on ebay for £20 , but this one makes a 'whooshing' noise all the time, and intensifies when moving the roller ball around.

I now its working becuase the battery is charging, but its so distracting listening to this 'white noise' all the time.

Any suggestions to what it could be and how to eliminate it?

i've had few adapters like that make a buzzing sound before but you could hardly hear it, if its making a really loud noise i dont think you should leave it unattended and start looking for another power supply

It is the same model as the original one, but you guys are right, I may need to get a new one, something is'nt right

My mobile phone charger makes a high pitch, almost inaudible, squeal. As i charge my phone overnight, this is incredibly annoying whilst i try to sleep.

Any ideas as to what causes this?

i have noticed that it usually starts when the phone is fully charged but the adapter is tsill plugged in.

The transfomer vibrates if it is loose.
Mains is at 50/60 HZ frequency so you can hear a whine if the core of the transformer in the adopter is loose.

Also the smoothing capacitor may be about to "blow" off, so it shows the tell tale signs

Generally not safe to use regardless of what people say. If i were you I would stop debating about this and go to a shop and buy one with a warranty.

I have seen many adaptors at work catch fire in thick black smoke. So do yourself a favour and save lots of money and perhaps your life
