Have you actually booked this yet mate?

Ambelside looks good but I think its a little expensive due to its prime location right on Windemere. Its a 3* for £20/23 a night.

Maybe consider Borrowdale. it a 4* and right up in the mountains. its a little cheaper at £15.50/18.50 a night. Only downside I can see it that its largest room is 8 beds but tbh will that many turn up? Even i they do they could kip in a different room, so it not that much of a prob.

Oh, you can also put me down for the sat night.

When I organised the Lands End run I ended up paying for the room in bulk and collecting of people but they were all close friends. In this case I'd suggest getting a quote from them on the room, work out how much each person owes and get the money paypaled by a certain date. If you don't have it, disregard them.

Once you have got you confirmed payments, book the room. I booked an en suite room and breakfasts last time. TBH the en suite was not necessary as there were plenty of bathroom facilities close to the room anyway. I assumed the breakfast was a full english but my mistake it was not. There was cereal, yogourts, fruit, hot croissants. drinks etc etc. Its wasn't a bad breakfast and saved trawling round the local town to find somewhere but it's something worth thinking about.

Rick.

I'll phone em both tomorrow and figure out the best thing to do, cheap rooms is a top priority for me personally, so you might be right there.

I'll ask their advice on bookings, perhaps they dont need a deposit; I've booked rooms before for 4 people without paying anything until we turned up.

I'll post the outcome tomorrow evening.

Borrowdale can fit eight blokes and a handful of females in on the Saturday but not on the Friday.

I've booked it but we need to send a deposit of 50% by 7 days time to keep the booking, which is around £7.50 each (haven't done exact calculations).

I would therefore ask that everyone who wishes to attend should send me a Private Message me so I can give instructions etc for paypalling the deposit, else you will not have a bed booked.

On Friday night we will just find a YHA or a Backpackers Hostel which is convenient, there's bound to be space somewhere.

Payments received for the YHA deposit from extreme3d, colinwall, Villiers, and Villiers Mate.

Waiting on all the rest! Need to book this tomorrow, anybody late with the deposit can probably still get a room but it's a tad risky.

Anybody who doesn't have paypal can phone and do their own credit card booking or whatever.

I did Rick, and we're booked up for 6 rooms on the Saturday night.

Anybody else wishing to book should phone ASAP as they're being snapped up quick, though being the innovative bunch of folks I'm sure we all are, I think last minute additions will be able to blag or sneak their way in somehow.

Nice one, Borrowdale here we come!

I take it you mean you've booked a 6 man room, not 6 rooms!

So how many are confirmed? 5 is it? 6?

Not as many that expressed an interest anyway Rolling Eyes Well I suppose its to be expected, happens every time.

I think spackie John might come along Loply but got a feeling he is on holiday at the moment hence no contact. I'll try and get in touch with him as soon as poss.

Myself and I think, Extreme3D are only staying the Saturday night. How many are staying the Fri? The plan for us is, well, travel up early Saturday morning, its prob a cpl of hours for us, get there Midday at the latest, dump the kit go out for a play.

Maybe a quiet beer on Sat night...tbh in my experience of riding, if we are gonna be riding hard, you'll not even manage the one!

Sun, up early before the traffic and the po-lice are around. Sun mornings are by far the best mornings to ride. Very Happy Hopefully we can keep the room a while, if not, i'm sure they will have some sort of luggage store we can use so we are not having to lug cases around with us all day.

I've not ridden with you chaps before, I don't think i've even met you Villers?? Are we still having seperate groups or riding en mass?

Even if we are the same ability, if there is 6 of us, i'd suggest 2 groups of 3. It makes it far easier for the lead bike, more fun for the other riders and is far less regimented. Of course, regular meeting points every couple of hours for refreshments is ideal.

So any plans on routes?

There's 6 confirmed and booked up Rick, including myself, though I'll keep asking anybody if they want to attend.

I'm not sure about the Friday/Saturday night attendance yet, perhaps people could post their intentions. I plan to stay both nights.
