I'm starting to turn over a bit of stock on ebay, trading in old sega consoles and games.
So I'm thinking of opening a base level ebay shop, but are there any real advantages of doing this? Like cheaper or longer listings?
Also is there a way of avoiding paying 7p on each auction for listing designer? I want the photo on top and a border, and it seems that to have this I have to use listing designer.

An eBay shop is very cheap to list unlimited length items in, it's something like 1p an item, I can't quite remember. Obviously you still pay a %age fee.

But there's no point in having them there if no-one's buying your stock, so you have to make proper auction listings as well to get the exposure.

As for the designer stuff, design your own template in Dreamweaver or whatever, link to Photobucket etc. for any pictures, and just import the HTML code into eBay. I could easily knock one together for you in half an hour, if you aren't that way inclined. Thumbs Up

3p an item, payable once a month! But this is only an advantage if you have multiple items or a constant supply!
Rookie's right, you'll still have to list the odd auction style ones to get exposure but 3p an item is still cheaper than the listing fees!

Nice work kids. I've opened an ebay shop and my listing fees have dropped about 80%.
