What do you lot reckon about the style?

Looks kind of cell shaded style characters. The Heavy Weapons Guy (HWG) looks like something from the incredibles.

I was hoping for a more realistic looking bunch but this may turn out pretty cool

Favourite online FPS. I'd have thought the HWG would have more armour than that, instead of a T-shirt and bandolier though. Looking forward to playing it. Had an Athlon 1.4 which was fine for CS:S, but just built a new PC - AMD 3200, 1Gb RAM, onboard X200 graphics although adding a (as yet undecided) dedicated card. Should be a tad better

I think it's such a refreshing change from the usual "ultra-realism" that many devs seem to follow these days.

Gaming is turning on its head it would seem.. the focal point of games seems to be pointing back to fun

In referance to PC games and probably most games, they have gone right down the pan recently, its not about gaming anymore, its about how much money they can squeeze out of your balls.

Take call of duty 2, a direct port from the xbox360, was so crap and full of bugs, its only now they have finally patched it up to something respectful, nearly a year later!

And dont even get me started on BF2.

Make half a game really crap'ly, with bugger all spent on testing,

realease it, let everyone spend £30 each on it. then patch up the main problems the PUBLIC find, but do it really slowly and badly, they wouldnt want to spend too much on testing would they.

Then realease loads of shitty extras, which cost more money, and to be frank should have been in the original game, complete with bugs,

theres that cut back on the spending thing again.

Wankers, and they wonder why everyone RIPS games nowerdays.

lots of money making culture in games now

online based distribution steam i hate they want to put out that they are on the cutting edge of video game distribution, because they can release 3-4 hours of episodic content HL Ep1 , and charge people a tenner a pop, and it gets rated 91% in every mag, and they make money hand over fist while everyone rushes out to buy it

even though the internet is so big these days, i dont see the point in making single player games that cant run without it, its absurd

3 months later, along will come half life episode 2, 3 4 etc, now yes im sure they are solid games but 3-4 hours for a tenner

i've got such a stack of pc games in my collection, but since i got oblivion the others dont get a look in, thats how to do it

4-5 years of intense development, to include testing, and the created a gameworld that in order to explore fully and carry out most of the quests, 150hrs is estimated, thats value and even after that its so freeform that you can spend hours just doing whatever you want, 25 quid for 150 hours is more like it

with games like this, im surprised how anyone has any patience for the linear set piece scripted rail shooters like half life 2 and call of duty
