Most people would go for an second hand NSR or RS at around £1000. They are both quicker than the cbr and look better.

You are asking about a 125 so i assume you are 17 (or close to it)? If so it's worth considering doing some training then going straight for your test. Possibly getting a cheap (about £500) CG125 for a few months to practice on. That way you can ride anything you want.

As a learner I dropped my bike a few times.

I wouldn't really wanting to be spending much more than £1k on a first bike.
I don't really like the idea of the CBR, however, if you like it and can find one for around £1k, it should make a reasonable enough first bike - it's paying £2k+ that seems particularly ridiculous to me.

where are you fill out your profile man!,

lots of NW folk are selling their 125s,

Toby's selling his CG , good learner bike nigh indestructable costs very little when you drop it

Marc is selling his CBR125 , looks neat 05 plate , but costs lots more when dropped.

All in all I'd recomend something naked to lessen the cost of repairs when dropped, GN125s , SR125s City flies all make good learners.

Mostly a UK site.

CBR I would say has the feel and look of a small bike - while something like the RS125 or TZR125 feels a bit bigger.

I sat on a CBR at mhy local Honda shop and I HATED it, felt worse / smaller than my DNA.

Having picked up my RS yesterday and riding that, just feel alot meatier in comparison. Although I can touch the floor easier on the RS than the DNA haha.

I agree about price, I wouldn't pay alot of money, you WILL drop it at some point. If you aren't that bothered about speed / looks and will be keeping the bike for awhile then i'd consider it.

Good luck to ya!

lol half the posts here are nonesense. The CBR is made spacifically for learners... It has good looks and can still shift its weight, just so happens most the torque is in the lower end and its not a speed demon which should be what people look for in a first bike really.

Its true if you drop the CBR it could come to some cost as its fully fair'd but the fact is its light and hard to drop/topple without trying.... Yes its small but not drastically small, most people under 6ft wouldent really look out of place (i'm 5ft 10 and look fine on it). Plus with it being small its easier to filter through traffic!!

What the CBR lacks in overall speed and accelloration it comes back kicking in corner speed and manuvering... to be honest its an awesome bike :S

Yea learners should get an RS... i mean 2stroke speed demons should go to all learners, why not just throw them out of a moving car? with the RS/NSR its higher maintenance and genrally more expensive in both running and buying... and if your pretty mad on it ull be looking at engine rebuilds?

Anyway that was me saying EH? to some of the posts. Right, good luck Thumbs Up

Hawks.
