Can anyone reccomend good Anime or similar?

Looking for stuff on torrents, err DVD.
Not massively into kiddy-style series, so something with a slightly more adult story line - and I mean 'intelligent', rather than Japanese School girl gang-bang animated porn, by the way, Robby.

Thinking 'film' style rather than series in general.

Preferably with English dubbing.

Ghost in the shell is good, as long as you dont mind sci-fi techie stuff.
The stand alone complex series is better though and has quite an intelligent plot line which i thoroughly enjoyed.

Ninja Scroll is a decent movie, the series is shite however.

All the studio Ghibli films are excellent.
Of note are :
-princess monoke (if you watch any, make it this one. Excellent plot and animation)
-Nausicaa
-Porco Rosso
-grave of the fireflies
-spirited away
-laputa Castle in the sky

Slightely more childlike, but just as enjoyable are
-My neighbour tottoro and
-kiki's delivery Service.

Akira is a given. goods story, nice animation and has lots of bikes- a winner.

Evangelion is supposed to be good, but i have not seen it.
My housemate used to go on about Cowboy beebop alot, but i havent seen that either.

I was urged to watch Appleseed. thats rubbish, dont bother.

I can "lend" you most of these if you like. Send me a pm

Kaben Thumbs Up

Grave of the fireflys
Mononoke Hime
Urusei Yatsura 2

I personally think you should watch any Ghibli films (bar spirited away and howls moving castle) in japanese with subtitles.
Especially Mononoke Hime (princess mononoke), as they tend to choose some really rubbish deadpan yanks for the dubbing and it completely destroys all the emotion.

gundam 0083 all others arent as good, (big robots bigger war)

Macross /robotech (bigflying robots and big war)
macross plus (small war ex mate rivalry in big flying transforming robots)

evangelion is ok , gets seriously dark towards the end though seriously... (big robots that aren't really robots at all)

Orgus (big robots again) Orgus II.

Golden boy (quite amusing esp the motorbike vs golden boy on push bike)

Spriggan/Striker , generally amusing

I quite like the voices in alot. Billy Crystal in Howl's Moving Castle was a great choice for instance.

Theres a feature length Anime called "Sky blue" that's awesome it's really well blended CGI with hand drawn.. and i recommend it highly. (Got called the Akira of the new generation)

Also, you've got to have
  • Trigun
  • Cowboy bebop
  • Samurai champloo

Very good.. and not at all childish.

Ghost in the Shell - First Anime I have ever watched and still my fav. Shoot outs the lot and a very good story line.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1st gig - Best anime ever.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd gig - Amazing

Akira - Classic.

Trigun - Funny in a way and also good takes off towards the end.

Cowboy bebop - Ace show Thumbs Up

Evangelion - the kid jerks off with a passed out ginger girls hand need I say any more Laughing but awesome robot/mech fights.

Spirited Away - Wanted to hate it but actually watched it all.

God there is so many I have over 150 gigs on my 2nd hard drive. I used to hate it but actually enjoy watching them Embarassed

Skip along to about 361 for the clips of most animes listed https://www.adultswim.com/clips/index.html

Cheers for all the suggestions people.

Any ideas for torrent sites to get them?
Usual places I go don't seem to list most of them and the anime specific ones I've found mostly seem to be just series.

All of the ghibli films. The not very subtle lesbian references in kiki's delivery service are entertaining, and nausicaa's skirt is very short and blowy.

Also Perfect Blue - Very, very good film.

Strongly recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion, but you need to get the series AND End of evangelion. As episodes 25/26 of NGE suck more arse then horny night in a prison.

But end of evangelion is beautiful.

Spirited away is fantastic.

Metropolis is also a very good watch. And no boobs in that one (ish)

Edit: Just remembered, Hellsing seemed ACE, might be worth getting some of that.

Angel Sanctuary - only three episodes but incredibly complex.

Chrno Crusade starts off quite kiddy-ish but gets very sinister and downright scary towards the end. PM if you want stuff burned - I have about 20G of Anime of my computer, compliments of the internet.

Ps. can someone please explain what the end of evangelion means? I'm having difficulty getting to grips with it Confused
